Meds on ice - problem exiting BKK?

I''ve got two months worth of Eventity that need to be kept refrigerated, not frozen.

Is this going to be a problem for airport security? Will I need to ditch the frozen ice packs before security and then try to buy ice past security?

sorry Im not qualified to comment as Ive never tried carrying ice packs in my carry on through airside. I have however tried to do this by placing it in my checked bags, which has caused no issues whatsoever.

is checking bag not an option for you?

checking with AOTs security policy might also give you an answer.

my guess is that theyll definitely search your carry-on, re-scan the ice packs separately again to ensure its not xyz and send you your way.

Should not be an issue.

Thanks. Wish me luck. I connect through ICN. Hopefully the ice packs won't be an issue there either.

It's very expensive stuff and has to be handled carefully. I have two packs, each with two preloaded syringes. You are even supposed to avoid light exposure. The pharmacy gave it to me in a little cooler with the ice packs.

Make sure you have whatever paperwork for the medication might be required, if they are something niche. Different countries may have different rules for the drugs themselves.

I've done it (not ICN, but Japan and Bangkok and USA) carrying meds in a yeti cooler with ice packs. No problem anywhere. I didn't carry syringes, but those should be ok with the prescription from the cartons they come in.

Halfway home. BKK tapped the cooler lid and I said ‘medicine’. Straight through the xray, no need to show documents or even open the cooler.

For anyone in the future: three ice packs (water frozen in a baggie), styrofoam cooler, Two boxes, each containing two pre-loaded syringes,

Further update for anyone doing this: no problem in ICN. The cooler got flagged, pulled, I said it was medicine, she ASKED if she could take a look. Quick consult with the xray operator and they didn't open it or re-xray it.

SKT-DK, LIH Prem and TWA884 like this.
