Pattaya: Runway 88

Kind of forgot about this until now, but when I was in Pattaya in March, I came across a 747 sitting in a field along 2nd Road, between Central Rd and North Rd.

From signage, looks to be someone trying to start up a food stall type area, themed around the 747. "Street Food Plaza with Jumbo Landmark".

From some internet searching, seems to have been "started" last year, though obviously doesn't look like it is "taking off"...

My guess is it will simply deteriorate in place over the next several years.... Shame.

Are you referencing Orient Thai, or this concept?

Including the rest stop on highway 344 which for some reason unbeknownst to me has a DC-3 parked on an elevated platform

Have been to several including the 747 cafe a few times. Last time with an ex female cabin crew of Orient Thai and previously ANA after I informed her that her photo was inside the plane. At 120 THB per person it is worth it for the scenery, although not as extensive as at Benjakiti Park.

the 747 Cafe in Bangkok, using an old 747 from Orient Thai, looks a bit more appealing than the Runway 88 in Pattaya
