Hope the choice of those (trusting Thailand and Thai authorities) by staying or foolishly returning, will not prove to have been wrong. Now the truth is slowly emerging. How many thousand cases they did hide or/and never test?
Europe is much safer if disaster really should happen. As a foreigner in Thailand you will always be stigmatized, certainly blamed and possibly discriminated.
And no alcohol ban either .

Several companies I deal with in BKK and on the eastern seaboard are now closing their offices and prohibiting employees from coming on-site for the coming week.. I guess that also has something to do with the fact that a lot of people working in BKK are actually living in Samut Sakhon

Outbreak 'under control'
The Public Health Ministry has reassured that it is able to contain the new outbreak of the novel coronavirus that originated in a seafood market in Samut Sakhon within two to four weeks, despite new cases surging to almost 700 as of on Sunday.
Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Department of Disease Control, said on Sunday that the number of cases linked to Talad Klang Kung, or the Central Shrimp Market, surged to 689 from Saturday's tally of 548, as authorities conducted tests on 1,443 people yesterday.

Understand the current protocol requires tests on day 5 and day 13. Results take 48 hours so these make sense (Day 7 - free to go outside briefly, Day 15 - free to go).
If they want to reduce the quarantine period to 10 days then they'll need data, right? So they'll need a test at day 10. Unless that replaces the Day 5 or Day 13 test, then that would be three tests.
Have seen some government testing results showing day 10 tests, not sure where those are coming from? Maybe Thais in free SQ? These results support (shocker) that a 10 day quarantine "catches" 99% cases.
Not sure if a 10 day quarantine will result in a significant increase in returnees or "tourists"?
just found this...
More frequent Covid-19 testing in preparation for shorter quarantine
The government has changed its Covid-19 testing procedure for arrivals, and is studying whether mandatory quarantine can be shortened from 14 to 10 days.
Dr Thaweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said on Thursday that health officials this month changed Covid-19 testing for arrivals from twice to three times.
Earlier, each arrival was tested twice during 14-day quarantine, first 3-5 days after arrival, and then again on days 11-13.
Each arrival is now tested three times, on day 0-1, day 9-10 and day 13-14.

Yesterday (Day-6 in ASQ Quarantine) got our 2nd negative Covid result for all 4 of us, and scheduled our one-hour outside time for today. Wanted to go out the same day yesterday, but was told that it was too late as a list of people allowed and scheduled for outside has already been sent to the government!!!

242 more positives so the total on this cluster is up to 1,063, with several thousand tests still outstanding.

Note that for non Thais altho the nominal quarantine is 15 days it's really a longer. time period that the person is known to be covid free
Test 1 prior to flight (up to 72 hours pre first flight), time in flight 12 -24 hours (approx) so before day 1 in Thailand proof of - test - makes the first Thai test maybe day 3 or 4 so the way it works now there's actually about 18 days or more from first proof of negative - which means if they change to 10 days - it will be closer to actually really 13ish days of really knowing the person is covid neg. Of course this cuts the hotel revenue by 1/3 if they shorten to 10 days.
Now for Thais it certainly makes sense to test on first day in Thailand - not so sure it makes as much sense for others.

Thailand reported 427 new confirmed cases,
14 from people on repatriation flights and in state quarantine centers,
397 from active finding tests among migrant workers and
16 from local transmission; with 0 deaths reported;
the total remains at 5,716 infections, and 60 deaths.
Another day where local infections exceed quarantine.
As a side note, did notice a massive construction project, was closed down today. Obviously they use mostly migrant workers, but don't know if this is for testing, ad hoc quarantine nor how long it might last? No clue if any other sites are similarly affected, There are thousands of migrant worker camps scattered across the city. A new one in my neighborhood (opened 1 Dec) looked like everyone was "home" today.
3 Jan is a day often mentioned for the resumption of work/school if closed for COVID.
The PM has made vague threats about provincial and national lockdowns if the people do not follow the advice of the government.
Saw something about crowds greater than 200 being limited to those events which "have permission".
NYE events said to be evaluated by 28 Dec.

Prayut warns of lockdown (bangkokpost.com)
i am already considering, whether I should postpone my return to Thailand...the prospects to move from one lockdown to the other is not very appealing...
