Best use of 33.5k miles

Hello,

We have 33.5k miles which are due to expire soon, and were wondering what the best use for these could be. We're trying to get at least 1c/mile, which seems to me like a mimimum valuation.

So far, our options seem to be :

- Buy 2,500 miles for 50$ and travel within Europe for 35k miles (+tax) : This might not be such a good deal as there are not so many places in Europe which cost that much to go to.

- Get 3 one-night vouchers for hotels in Asia for 32k miles : Again, maybe not such a great deal, especially since we have no specific plan to go to Asia in the coming year.

- Buy 2,500 miles for 50$ and get 3 100$ vouchers for in-flight duty free for 36k miles : We have little chance of flying TG in the coming year, so this seems like the most risky strategy.

Do you have any other ideas or opinions on how to best use these miles ?

Thanks,
Yann

For your information, miles will cost $50 for 2500 until end of June. From July 1, it will cost $30 for 1000, $60 for 2000.... etc. Go check www.thaiair.com

The duty free voucher are only vaild for use until 30 Nov 2007. So do NOT get those.

If I were you, I would redeem an award ticket.

Thanks for your input, but how do I get an OK value on a flight ticket ?

Last I checked, a flight to St Petersburg (for example) would cost me about $150 ($50 to buy miles and $100 taxes) + 35,000 miles, compared to an estimated $350 retail value.

Thanks again,
Yann

Yann,

I don't understand your question. What about retail value? I though the OK comes under ticketing status, and it means confirmed whereas HK1 means wait listed.

Sorry for not being clear. I meant that I'm trying to get the most out of these miles.

Based on my example, I would be getting a value of :

(350-150)/33,500 ~ 0,6c / mile

Regards,
Yann
