Ticket delivery, pickup only from Thai office?

Hi,

I want to buy Thai tickets CAN-BKK-CAN (2682 RMB), but they don't give me the option to choose e-tickets when booking online. In fact, only option is to pickup the tickets from Guangzhou office, which would be very inconvenient for me, as I am coming to CAN from HEL in the morning and intend to continue to BKK.

I can book the tickets from several online sites/travel agency, but they only have about 80% higher rates. Is there a way to get the tickets with the cheaper price?

Cheers,
-olli

According to the Thai website booking, BKK to CAN e-tickets are available but not CAN to BKK. Just an educated guess: the Chinese government prohibits the issuance of e-tickets for outbound flights. Perhaps because Chinese travel agents report all outbound passengers to some agency prior to travel so they can check up on them. Either that or Thai Airways isn't setup in China for processing e-tickets.

I thought also that these could be the possibilities. Will call local Thai Airways office and ask if I have any other possibilities.

At least AY can issue e-tickets for example on a CAN-HEL-CAN trip.

I also found this from Thai Airways web page:
Conventional paper ticket may be selected, but must be collected from THAI city office only and that office must be in the country where the journey commences.
So it would seem, that this is not applicable only to China, but any international flight where no e-tickets can be issued.

Yep, requires local set-up by airline concerned. For eg LH couldn't issue me e-tix SGN-BKK, but TG and SQ can.

It could also be possible that the ground handling company that TG uses in CAN does not have access to the TG e-ticket database.

This could be the case, since you can buy e-tickets for PVG-BKK flight.

THAI e-ticket is also not available out of Auckland, New Zealand. I don't think this has anything to do with the Chinese government. It should be more of a technical issue or something to do with local handling agents.

I tried booking online AKL-BKK-AKL right through to 'press to pay' screen, and no problems with e-ticket ex-AKL.

What happened to make you believe that e-tix ex-AKL is not possible? Could it be a recent change (for the better?)

trsqr, please provide dates and preferred flights (e.g if more than one flight per day), I will ask my buddy at AMEX Travel to see what she can do to help out.
