Hkg-bkk-akl
My wife and I flew this route on New Year's Day. The HKG-BKK leg was on an old 747 and the upper deck experience was less than exciting. Even seemed worse once we got to the BKK airport as the contrast between it and the HKG is like night and day. The business lounges in BKK were either exceptionally crowded and/or lacking in atmosphere, food and service.
However, the experience from HKK to AKL was wonderful on the 340 with new seats. There were only 7 passengers in business out of 60+ seats so service was on a 1-1 basis (OK, not quite. There were "only" 6 flight attendants.) We were all in the first two rows but moved wherever we liked in the first section throughout the 11 hour flight. Talk about privacy and lots of choices. Food and drink were plentiful and excellent. We all felt like we were in a private club or on a private jet. AVOD made it even better. All in all, a fun time and a unique experience. Kudos to TG.
