Question TG HKG F lounge

I will be flying TG F (747-400) from HKG to BKK in October. Does TG have it's own F lounge at HKG or is there access to a *A F Lounge?

Thanks.

In BKK, for sure. Its great, as a quick search will reveal. For HKG Im not quite sure.

TG has its own 1st class lounge in HKG. I personally haven't been into one of them, since I am always on the TG 602/603 where 1st class is not available. But always do try take a peek. I assume the food should be more or less the same, wine would of cos be better and the area is smaller and more quite. Other than that, both business and 1st lounge shares the same washroom and shower facility.

TG's HKG first class lounge is pretty basic. A bit on the small side as a couple of times it was packed so I just used the business lounge which is more roomy. The first class lounge has a couple of computer terminals for internet access. Some hot and cold food with a small frige of icecream. Since the OP is an US Gold, you can access the United First Lounge next door, or the SQ lounge but it is all the way across the terminal.

The TG F lounge in HKG is not really that large but service is really good. They will have a larger selection of food and each time I have been there they have gotten the food for me even. They do have internet terminals but you can also use their wi-fi for free, just ask them for the wifi code. While a small lounge the service is good and they should escort you to the plane as well which is quite nice because boarding any TG flight is chaotic. I notice that SJC mentioned the lounge was packed, I am wondering what time of day that was...possible other people from other *A F flights. I have takent the TG HKG-BKK flight many times and usually it isnt that busy so it may get busier later in the day. I think you will enjoy the lounge and service.

Thanks for the info.

This will be my first time on TG, and I am looking forward to their service.

FFP status does not matter if one holds an F-class boarding pass.

An F-class boarding pass allows you to use any Star operated lounge throughout the world, with 1 guest. This includes all the First Class lounges of the carriers that operate F-class.

In the case of HKG, this will mean that you can use the TG, SQ and UA lounges, in both the F- and C-class sections with a TG F boarding pass.

To be honest the lounge is really small and the food service depends on how many people are in there. I spent about 6 hours in there and the time I was on my own there was very little to choose and I went into the main lounge the otherside of reception.

Yes, but can I convince Lufthansa lounge staff of this? I have a long connection in FRA before an F-class TG flight to BKK.

You won't have any problem getting into the Lufthansa first class lounge in Frankfurt.

But you are in the single location where the normal Star Alliance rules on this subject are not being followed. Lufthansa has designated the [dreadful] Senator lounges as its first class lounges. That is what you can use as an F passenger on TG. In fact, that is where TG will send you as they do not have their own lounge at FRA.

Only if you are flying in F on Lufthansa can you access the new HON Circle/First Class Lounges. They do not let passengers on other Star carriers in. If you are arriving in F on LH, you would be able to get in the new lounges (but not the F Terminal) even though you are departing on TG.

Interesting, when I flew First class on LH out of Bangkok, they allowed me into the very nice First class TG lounge....I wonder if First class Star alliance lounges can discriminate against other First class Star carrier passengers, the discrimination should be reciprocal (just to encourage openess in the alliance)?

It's a clear violation of the Star Alliance rules, but LH gets around it by designating the Senator lounges as Star Alliance first class lounges and the HON Circle lounges as a separate type of lounge.

It's all B.S. LH is just flauting the rules, but what can you do about it?

service is super in the TG F lounge. There has been the same lounge attendant there from the Regal Apt Hotel who is really special. He always remembers me and is like someone working in your home. Although the lounge itself is not that great, he makes up for it. Also, they do have pretty nice showers there.

Since the OP mentions its his first time on TG, a couple of other pointers to add...

At HKG, they will provide you with a free cart transfer once through security down to the TG lounge (although if there's not a cart ready to leave as soon as you get there then you might want to forget about this). Voucher will be given at check-in.

At BKK, if you're ending your journey there, TG will meet you off the plane and escort you (possibly with another cart) to an express immigration line then provide a free limo transfer to downtown. If you're connecting to another flight, again (assuming the ground staff have been made aware of the fact) they'll meet you off the plane and take you to the TG F lounge while you wait, regardless of connecting carrier/class.

yes and on the flight back to HKG, the first class golf cart service from the gate as soon as you deplane at HK is great! It is usually quite a walk from the gate to the immigration counter
