HKG-BKK Business/First
Hi All,
Quick question. Are amenity kits offered for the short route? According to Thai's website, amenity kits are offered for flights 4+ hours.
At BKK, are massages only offered for first class passengers or also business class? I am redeeming miles for honeymoon from HKG to HKT (direct not available for mileage redemption at this time). Considering whether to take first or business on the HKG-BKK portion.

no amenity kit for BKK HKG for both classes
massage: 1 hour full body for First, 1/2 hour neck & shoulder or foot for Business
BUT: you will be only able to enjoy on your way back from HKT to HKG
coming from HKG you will have to go through immigration in BKK and into domestic area (for flight to HKT); massage is only available in international area

Full F program (buggy to lounge, 1 hr massage, escorted to gate) on the ground.
On the plane: no kit or pijamas, meal more what you expect in business class on nicer plates. No arrival service in HKG.
In the opposite direction you most likely will get the F size of the TG lounge (food served at the table, you can always go over to the business side, more selections there). F in the air is not really special (as described above). If I remember correctly (has been a year at least since I did the flight from HKG in F) you get the full arrival service in BKK (buggy to immigration or transfer and escort thru the transfer security)
I would do F on the way back if you have enough time for the lounge.

If you are only doing HKG-HKT one way, there is no point getting F rather than J.
TG check-in is at the LCC terminal. You will have to take a first train to the main terminal and then a second train to the TG gate area. No escort service. The HKG TG J lounge is nice (nicer than the BKK lounge), but the F side is just a cordoned area. Wines are a little bit better than on the J side (but still mediocre). You can order some little snack served on a plate, but that is nothing to write home about, so the main food/dring ressource is in the J area.
As stated above, you will have to get into the domestic area at BKK and the lounge is very basic with no alcohol.
So spending on F has no benefits except for the inflight product (which is still nice as catering exHKG is better than exBKK).

On the other hand, F for the return HKT-HKG via BKK is well worth it. Not only do you get F ground services at BKK, but you also get them at HKT, and that is really sweet because they escort you to the front of the immigration line.

if you mean HKG your statement is in contradiction with that of Unterwegs who claims no pick up any more on arrival in HKG
of course it is/was nice to drive with the buggy to the immigration instead of going underground and taking the train

ground service at HKT? or do you mean HKG?

At HKT departure, if you're connecting to F at BKK, a TG agent meets you at check-in and escorts you through immigration and security, then walks you to the F section of the TG lounge. If you're familiar with HKT outbound immigration chaos, you know this is a nice perk.
I can state from first hand experience there is no longer free buggy pick-up at HKG.

This is probably a bit late (24 hour free cancellation?), but if you would have departed from HKG in First with an award ticket, wouldn't you also have had access to the Singapore and United First class lounges (which - I have heard - are rather nice)? Those lounges in HKG are probably nicer than the Thai lounge in HKT.

don't confuse the guy. Otherwise he will miss the TG F lounge, the on ground service and the 1 hour massage in BKK
SQ lounge in HKG is also far away from TG gates; you have to go underground and take the train from there

The question is TG F lounge at BKK vs. UA GFL at HKG. That's no comparison. BKK F lounge is one of the best lounges in the world; UA GFL is not in the same league. F ground services in HKT are just an added (and substantial) bonus.

the HKT-BKK-HKG in F is really worth it.
HKT can be chaotic. Ground assistance at HKT and BKK is good and the 1-hour massage is great, if you can have it given your connection time and availability.
