Each of the last 3 Wednesdays have been operated by 77W. I'm flying on Wednesday but trying not to get my hopes up!

now as they have changed more long haul flights (with the A340 gone) to the 777-300ER, chances to get that one on the Melbourne flight become smaller!
they have only 12 planes of this type!

TG471/2 to/from SYD has been on 77W the past two rotations. My seat map for Friday's (3 April) flight is still showing 744 however.

Anyone know if these are just temporary equipment changes? Curious to see what will happen to my F booking.

Only annoying thing is that my seat selection has been shot to bits. Traveling as a couple on separate PNRs and we're put in aisles in singles at opposite ends of the cabin.

I flew TG 465 yesterday (4 April) and we had the 777-300ER. A pleasant surprise.

We had the lie flats on 473 BKK-BNE last year , they have now gone back to the old 772.

As the route is under review I would have thought they would have used a better product , rather than a crappy one ....

if the route is under review, it is not profitable and could be axed. So they certainly don't assign their best planes on it

I was hoping that , but I am flying in September and both seat maps show the old 772 2-2-2 seat map

At the moment there is a 77W scheduled once a week, but from my contact at TG they will be back soon.

The seat map is hit and miss, last two TG flights I did (473/474) I had a 200 showing yet a 77W was at the gate and on the way back it changed 3 times between a 300/200/W seat map before finally settling on 300 and a 772 was at the gate ( and confirmed by a friend who had aircraft schedules that it had been a 772 for 24 hrs to TG ops at least.

MEL gets constantly played around with by both TG and SQ, they both seem to send whatever they feel like to MEL be it 772, 773 or 77W. SQ is the worst offender, often subbing 773's on 77W services, whilst they have for some reason recently removed some 77WR flights with the old 77W's on SQ227/228. TG sometimes send in 772 or 773 depending on the day and maybe how they feel that particular day, if they are happy they chuck in the 77W.

But I guess we should be happy at least SQ doesn't make MEL all A330, like the other 'regional' destinations in Australia besides SYD

For MEL the most consistent in Asia are CX and MH, they both offer x3 daily and you know what you get when you step onboard, no plane roulette required.

For MEL, the last few swaps to 77W were because of maintenance of 77E... But sometimes they decided to send the old 772 down as well... TJA-TJH series...

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing...there are many who find the 772 J seat preferable to the 772ER/773 regardless of its age.
