Indonesian visa change

Flying to Bali on TG
Indonesia has changed it's visas. The 7 days has been scrapped so no more $10 quick trips.
Now it's 30 days for $25, and it is renewable without leaving the Country.

This must be new. When I flew to CGK earlier this month, it was the normal two type visa system.

I've never stayed less than 10 days. Being able to stay more than 30 would be nice.

I just returned from Jakarta on Tuesday 26Jan2010 and I was given a 7 days Visa. It is very possible that this requirement only applies to Bali.
Suspect the tourist dollars are the target there.

Hmm, I hope it is not so - there's a wedding I'll be going to for just about 3-4 days, making the visa a bigger expense than expected. Would be nice to go back to the days of a no-cost visa-on-arrival, but then who am I kidding?

It's really not that long ago, back before the mid 90's there wasn't a charge at all

You must have just got in before they changed it then, as it's definitely 30 days for US$ 25 only now as I arrived in Jakarta on Sunday and they said no more 7 day visa's.

A few friends of mine in Singapore who go to Batam and Bintan for a day or so a few times a year are not impressed.

Very possibly. Then Feb 1st seems to have been the enforcement of the new rule.
