Private messages causing safari to crash?
Everytime I receive a PM and go to open it using the pop-up notification, Safari shuts down. So far, it's only opened about 6 times this afternoon (and Apple must be getting as fed up of the reports as I am at sending them), but I don't know if its an Apple problem or a FT problem.
Anyone else having similar problems?

can't say i have the same issue as i have pop-up windows disabled on safari. yes, the message indicator will pop up but i can't open it and have to select my pm's from the pm link. yeah it's a pita but to me it's easier than hitting the return/enter key while typing and opening the pm by accident.
have you tried reseting safari? you'' lose your history, cookies and cache but it might help. the other option would be to delete the preferences file for safari.
oops, almost forgot...what version of safari are you using (4.0.1 is the most current)

any luck?
have you tried upgrading to safari 4.0.1
also, do you have firefox (current version is 3.5?). if yes, does it happen with ff?
if not, it might be a preferences issue with safari or an os-x issue (are you current with all the os-x updates?)

I really don't want to reset Safari unless I have to.
I have Firefox, but don't use it much, since I prefer Safari. It's hard to predict when a new PM is going to arrive to ensure I am using FF when the pop-up occurs to see what happens.
My mac does a weekly software check, so I'm as current as anything released within the last week on OSX. I might look to try Safari 4.0.1 since it's starting to be a complete pain, not to mention I lose everything else I have open on tabs

I've had some issues w/ Safari for a few weeks now and your description is similar to mine, though i've had it crash without the PM thing. It used to be extremely stable but lately, I may have to default to FF. I hadn't thought about it but it may be the PM in the background. I'll try and isolate like you have. Thanks for the idea in trying to figure all this out.
