How do you manage your PM box?

I keep emptying my PM box, but it seems like no matter how often I delete messages it fills right back up again.

Can we get bigger boxes (one more time)?

I suppose I could just delete everything, instead of just deleting the silly stuff, but I really want to keep some of these messages.

What to do? What to do?

Very poorly.

I usually wait until they fill up and download them offline to an Excel/XML format for archival purposes.

Since I tend to reply and leave all the prior text in the PM, I delete all but the final e-mail in a series of messages. When the mailbox fills up, I download/export anything I want to keep.

I have the same issue as Punki. It always fills up quickly and I always try to get it back down to a reasonable size, but it never stays that way for long, and the cycle starts again. Simply put, I suck at managing it. I guess I should use more email or something, but would love to see the boxes get bigger again, although I guess that would just cause the same issue in the long run.

Good idea, scoow. ^

I try that too, but I guess I don't do it fast or often enough.

I know I will have the problem in the future. So I have started transfering PM's to my (FT Pastpost Control) email box.

What's that?

Punki,, just think of what you would do if all these PMs were on pieces of paper, say like those pink phone message slips that are ubiquitous in any office. You'd throw them out once you've replied!

There's something about email that isn't quite real (like paper) so we tend to save it just in case the message was imagined or misundersood or something.

Larger mailboxes result in more accumulated messages that you probably don't really need.

Ok, it's an interesting discussion - and an ongoing problem for me, who is basically just too lazy to clear out regularly - but it's not really a Communitybuzz! topic. I'm going to go ahead and move this to Technical Issues

Some good suggestions here, keeping your sent box clean and deleting any messages that don't have information that needs to be saved go a long way at keeping a clean inbox! ^
