And all this time I thought that when people used ! in the middle of a Japanese word it was because of some other sound that wasn't well represented in transliterations.

Maybe giving a list of the words or word fragments that can cause problems when they pop up in the Japan Forum can help give our tech people a better handle on how to address the problem?

For example, I believe the most problems come from the use of the following two word fragments:

"-sh!ta" or "sh!ta-"(a word fragment meaning "below" or "under" and commonly used in place names) and "-sh!te" (a verb form often used with requests)

Finding a technical solution to allow for the use of the "four-letter S" word in just these two items would be a good start.

There isn't a way built into the system to remove the censorship controls for a particular forum, but I have made a slight adjustment to the censored list that should resolve this issue. Give it a try and let me know if it works/doesn't work.

Brilliant, Mikel--it seems to be working based on my very limited testing.

Sweet! Now we can talk about the quality of the olives and pickles at Kibbutz Beit Hashita in Israel as well!
