RSS feeds- not updating regularly

RSS feeds- not updating regularly
Has anyone else had this issue?: I have the RSS 2.0 added to my google "homepage" for a few FT forums. The stories don't get updated very frequently- even when I refresh the page. Is there a problem , have i done something wrong or is this a 'feature' of RSS feeds?
