Join Date: Dec 1969 ?? Just Curious

I've noticed that since the changeover, some of the Original Members have join dates not of May 1998, but of Dec 1969.

I'm not trying to point out an error here, as I actually find it kind of neat/humorous. But I can not help wondering if anyone knows how this came to be?

Just asking...

It comes from the old "old" system, when we lost registration dates for people that had registered prior to 1999. When we migrated them over to the new FT, an incomplete timestamp for their registration date was entered and now it displays a default date for those users. We'll get that cleaned up shortly.

Yes, I remember that issue, Dan, and thanks for the reply. I am nothing if not curious.

And, I am sure you want to get everything up and going 100%, tie up all the loose ends, etc. But could I suggest that you not spend too much time on this one? Sometimes a small flaw can be, I don't know, a delight. (Like when in the old FT, our registration dates were blank--I loved that, actually)

Like one computer program I was maintaining back in the 1980s, it was a non-graphical mainframe, line-oriented non-graphic thing. While I was making some changes to the program, which required the user to enter fields separated by semicolons (like: Harry;FlyerTalk;Add) I noticed a typo in an error message. The message should have read "Invalid Separator." Instead, it said, "Invalid Sepatator." The users vetoed my fixing that while I was in there. They LOVED the "Invalid Sepatator" message, said it humanized the thing and if I changed it, I'd be shark bait!

It's just my two cents, but don't break your backs fixing this....again, I actually like it...some of us have Join Dates of May 1998, and some of us have Join Dates of Dec 1969. I think the 1969-ers might not WANT to lose their "seniority."

And thanks again for such a *quick* response!
