CSS file coming and going

I am intermittently seeing 404 errors for the stylesheet (css). Are you guys editing it or it something else happening? The site looks really bad without it.

Not 404 errors directly (in fact I didn't get one when I clicked on your link), but I'm definitely intermittently seing the style change. For the past 10 mintues I've been browsing FT without the boxes around the posts and with different text styling than normal. It also makes those quick dropdown menus hard to use because the backgrounds are missing!

Heh, it must have been missing until just before I read this thread. Because after I posted this the thread came up with the normal appearance.

It's been consistently out for me since this morning. Go figure. It's certainly nice that the site is faster now, but I think that's due to database performance improvements - the CSS file is small, and a smart browser only needs to load it once and then keeps it cached.

Clearing your cache won't work. Indeed, that'll just ensure that you have no chance of getting an old copy of the file. It's coming and going all over the place.

Yes, PremEx, that's exactly how it appears to me too. And it is still very slow.

Happens to me, but I consider myself lucky if just the text loads and it don't time out.

This shouldn't be an issue any more.

Rack it up to our inexperience with mirrored web servers.

Speed -- we are still working on.
