I know I will get used to it, but I agree with the above posters. In addition, I find it more difficult to easily see the posts--all of the text is about the same size, and so I find it hard to focus and find the actual post--the member name is now as big (or bigger) than the posts. I don't need the old one back, because I'm sure it's not coming back, but something along the lines of the old one with some enhancements would have been more appreciated than this one. Is it a new Operating System, so they couldn't just tweak the old one--they had to throw it out? Too bad. And as of right now, I am less inclined to return so often, based on the L-o-n-g loading times of the pages--even with Cable Internet.

Despite missing the CSS file every now and then the speed is awesome, but FT seems to "stall" every few minutes. It just hangs for a minute, and after that it's blazing again.

Blazing! Not my experience at all with broadband access! I've already wasted too much time since Thursday. It was bad when FT wasn't there It is worse when it is there; but not there for all practical purposes.

I would rather watch grass grow or see paint dry. I'm outtahere until I read in TalkMail that things have improved.

Try the stripped down version, it works wonderfully for me on my handheld.

I hate it, HATE THIS NEW FLYER TALK!!!!! Why mess with something that worked well and I could check so easily and have questions answered etc. This is awful!!!!

I generally concur with most of the comments here. Speed is essential, and FT has basically gone back to the piston engine age. Furthermore, we are now at the tyrany of the masses level with this rediculous ratings system, as well as a myriad of other symbols which I have no clue about. The biggest complaint in the past was speed, and it seems this has not been resolved, and indeed we've moved backwards. All the other bells and whistles add little to a civil community and the ability to have real honest and forthright discussions of matters. Who needs a mini-Word composing box? We need a spell check, but beyond that, this other stuff has merely slowed FT to a crawl.

I have searched for a place to find an explanation for all the "ratings" enhancements, the various new symbols in our user profiles, and wonder where that is, and why we even need them.

All in all, a big thumbs down, and a likelihood that less time will be spent on FT because wait times have made productive visits impossible.

I'm sure that if our dear patron Randy and his staff had a clue as to what they were getting into with this :-: enhanced :-: BB software they would have told that vBulletin sales rep words we wouldn't even think of saying.

Yesterday my reputation was -9. Today it is -11 even though I haven't done a thing. Must be someone who is jealous about this 4-star thread initiated by me and who voted against my posts.

So at this point, I am hopeless to return to a positive reputation

this thing is absolutely glacial over broadband -- I pity dial-up users!

part of the problem is on my end: I use Apple's Safari browser and for whatever reason any vBulletin 3-based system is terribly slow with it, possibly due to over-reliance on Javascript (where Safari is very, very weak; e.g. www.startribune.com comesup instantly with Firefox and takes up to a minute with Safari). Firefox (Mozilla) is better, but while once the page loads things are snappy, waiting for it to load, well... empires rose and fell, contintents drifted, the 9-11 commish is still waiting for Condi and George to testify, etc.

Let the Salem Witch Hunts begin. Curiously, there are two regular posters who both had been given time outs because of their attacks on me, and now I am the one with two negative reputation marks. Just shows why this new site is very dangerous. One can be tried and convicted without a trail, let alone a jury. Vendettas have come to FT, and that's a real shame. Free speech and fair comment have been stifled by those school yard bullies who cannot stand honest debate or alternative opinion.
