Graffiti is generally illegal. This is an online forum that you are able to use for free and that you don't own. You're going to need to come up with a better analogy.

Way upthread (well before you started complaining), our Community Director NWIFlyer had a great response that I think applies here too:

I don't take any massive notice of mine, because I'm far too focused on and appreciative of the great information we have across the site.

[...] I'd suggest to you that it would be a very good time for you to return to enjoying the 99.9% of the site you do like, and worry much less about the insignificant part you don't.

In other words, it's time to leave this alone, please.

good lord

lots of people who don't own the building they have their business in or live in are also annoyed by graffiti, I guess they should just shut up.

man you have got to be kidding me

whether I own the site or not is completely irrelevant

the point isn't whether the operators of the site have the "right" to implement this feature or not, this is absolutely the lowest form of analysis

WillBarrett_68 Oct 7, 2025 9:48 am

and yes it's amazing that some people like the feature I guess if anyone likes it then I should just like it too, why would anyone ever have a different opinion about anything? this world would certainly be a better place if we all just thought the same things and liked the same things. Thanks for opening my eyes.

GW McLintock Oct 7, 2025 10:19 am

Personally, I find the badges a lot less annoying than people bumping this thread just to complain ;)

You are entitled to your opinion but your tone suggests otherwise. This has been asked and answered upthread multiple times. Please point me in the direction of the dead horse.

Instead of investing time and energy into modifying the system to allow WillBarrett_68 to turn off badges, I have come up with a solution that should keep both sides happy. Just add a new badge!

the WB68 “Commemorative Curmudgeon” badge
:D :D

SPN Lifer Oct 8, 2025 4:15 pm

While a "Hates Badges" badge sounds theoretically plausible, we must ensure further proposals are not thinly disguised personal attacks, in violation of FlyerTalk rules.

Sorry, next time we'll be sure to run corporate decisions by some guy we've never heard of

These comments remind me of 2006 FlyerTalk cur. Ahhh to be an angsty whippersnapper.

PS: go to: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/badg...?do=viewbadges then under "Badges Displayed", hover your mouse over the badge, click the "x" button then that badge will be removed.

Username badges

My username says I’ve been to 10, 20, 30, and 40 countries. As much as I wish this were true, it simply isn’t. How can I go about changing this? I can’t find the option when I go to edit my profile.

one more time — while it would be *REALLY* nice to know when FT (or IB) implements a new badge, it would be even nicer to know their criteria for “awarding” it

at least “Community Builder” has a somewhat more conventional (traditional?) implication than “All Eyes On You”

Three Unanswered Questions

In addition to my two previous unanswered questions (about the criteria for "Conversation Starter" and "Community Builder" badges), I now have a third.

What is the difference between a "Community Builder" and a "Community Influencer" badge?

Perhaps IBJoel might be able to tell us, please? :star: :tu:

Can I have a guess?

A Community builder is a traditional forumite, whose profile suggests they are probably from last century.

A Community influencer is the same thing but a they're probably a late millennial or gen Z.

Yeh, would be useful to get some clue.

OK…If FT offered a "Community Curmudgeon" Badge… I’m willing to pay to get that one! And this is from a guy who removed all his badges...

-Top 1% Least Most Passive-Aggressive Badge
-Certified Hater to Families in Zone 1 Badge [requirement: 5 years on FT, 3 years elite + 5 stories about d-bag families travelling home with their infant child for the first time ever and how (s)he was inconvenienced]
-Keyboard Warrior of The Year
-Pedant of The Year [successfully proves a moderator wrong about Conditions of Carriage and/or Same Day Change rules at least 3 times]
-Iconclast Badge [2 cool 4 badges, the badge is a picture of Kosmo Kramer]

Go to
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/badg...?do=viewbadges

Hover your mouse over the thing you don't like, click the "X" at the bottom center of said avatar/badge/thing.

I just noticed that I'm all three of these things. I'm not sure how to take it.

I'm curious about the "all eyes on you" badge. What are the criteria?

"in Russia, flyertalk eyes are on YOU...". Explained up thread.

Maybe time for a wiki update? I imagine as people get badges they'll wonder like we all did.

You have to have gone on the site 30+ days in a row since the roll out of the badge
