Another vote to bring back trending link.

I literally surf FT 10% of what i used to, I don't even keep a tab open anymore and just use google and put FT at the end of the search in case some is located somewhere on the forums - sad days :(
|
I've been trying to engage periodically through the new set-up and I absolutely loathe it. The joy of the site was how I could learn so much from how the trending was curated. Now it's been reduced down to niche questions. Very disappointing.

I used to enjoy perusing the site via the trending posts. Without that, I use FT only for specific questions/answers. Seems to me that FT should want people to explore rather than target forums.

I really hope they find something functional to replace the Trending posts page.
That being said, I have low expectations. This page is benifical for people who are already engaged. I assume most decisions are based on generating revenue. Plus one cannot forget my new favorite concept: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification |

It's odd how so many people are saying that the lack of the trending page will end their engagement with the site, given that there were sticky messages for weeks (months?) that the trending page was going away, and yet people didn't even realize it had gone away until weeks later!!

I'm not sure how the original announcement was unclear or why you wouldn't have thought to check this subforum, but I'm glad you've recognized the unintended benefit of increasing your productivity.
Not blaming anyone. It was a me problem. |

Just couldn't fathom they were turning off the most interesting thing on FT (by far). I figured I was misunderstanding the post.

Recently, I've started chancing upon entire posts that are obviously AI generated. If this were to become more commonplace, FT could theoretically evolve into state where engagement is increasingly bot on bot (e.g. bots can argue with each other about overhead bin space too). Then ib would still be able to play its SEO game, but without giving much thought to placating us human members.

somewhat ironically, the yellow banner was never shown on the trending page, at least on mobile. If, like me, 95% of your browsing the site was through the trending page on mobile you might never have seen it.
