Starting today, I'm getting in-line ads that change the placement of thread titles in a forum and the position of forum names on MyFlyerTalk (and the position of the box where I edit content to be posted, like this missive right now). Sometimes I click where the "read oldest unread post" marker had been a split second before, but because an ad inserted itself above that point on the page, I end up clicking something else.

Starting today, I'm getting sidebar ads that update and change. I don't recall getting sidebar ads yesterday (or last month), but I'm certain I did not get changing sidebar ads.

Both of these undesirable effects are while I am logged in. I even logged out, cleared cookies and cache, and logged back in; I still get the ads. I thought one of the advantages of registering and logging in was to avoid ads.

Whatever changed, please change it back.

Yeah, as far as I know, those are normal. That's an issue with an extension or 3rd-party software you may have been running.

Certainly there have been no changes to my extensions or 3rd party software in the past week, and I have very few of either to start with. I did make some changes to privacy settings in Firefox, but changing them back did not restore my ad-free experience.

My recollection is that I had similar trouble with ads some years ago, and I solved the problem by turning off javascript when I visited FlyerTalk. That seems to kill the in-line ads, which are really annoying because they change the location of features on the screen. Maybe I've just been lucky the past few years.
