Comments on FT encouraging members disable AdBlocker
Did you know?
The FlyerTalk team works very hard to keep the site free for you and provide the best possible content.
Can you help us?
One easy way you could help us is by disabling your AdBlocker. The funding from our sponsors helps us invest back into FlyerTalk to improve your experience.
FlyerTalk is special to us, and we want to make it special for you too.
Thank you so much,

As many have observed multiple times, there's a chunk of us who would be more than happy to pay for the privilege of no ads and a decent mobile app.

FT is the reason I finally gave in and got an ad blocker. Ads paid my salary for many years, so I appreciate them.
But the 100% CPU usage, auto-play sound, and popunders just became too much for me.
I have my ad blocker turned down to the lowest settings. It only blocks intrusive ads.

Ahem. Did you know that the correct place in which to have this discussion is in the FT Technical Support and Feedback forum?

But this is way too much. I pretty much echo what the other two posters said.
Also, I would like to assume that, as regular high quality contributors, we are actually helping generate traffic and should get the privilege of no ads 🤣🤣
But on mobile this is way too much. Like really?

I know I know. But I don't have the willpower and time to go argue there, and just wanted to share with the small circle...

FT S100K: post 100K posts per year to qualify. Unlimited access to no-ad day passes for yourself and a fellow FTer. Also have access to DYKWIA cards which can be used to suspend lower tier FTers for a period of time.
Rumour has it there is also an FT MM program.

Do Canadians get lower qualification levels?
Does this apply to specific subforums or is it system wide?
Do we get priority mod access?
So many unanswered questions...

Please call customer service, after on hold for an indefinite period of time, an incompetent agent may or may not pick up your call, and may or may not give you the correct answer. Also note that in case the agent doesnt know the answer, he/she may make up a rule.

I feel like I post more than I should, and I don't even get 10k per year.

As mentioned previously the proper venue for this discussion is the FT FT Technical Support and Feedback forum to which these posts have now been moved.

FT owners should concentrate on driving more traffic TO flyertalk
Not alienating existing traffic. Make your revenue on the 90% or whatever of the population that doesn't even know what an ....... is. (really? writing that word out is censored and shows up as all dots?!)
NO. I will not disable my adblocker for numerous security reasons. Ads cannot be trusted becuase third party ads are often malware. Ads use bandwidth, and many users have speed limits or have to pay for metered usage.
Take up half my mobile screen with the nagware that comes back on every single refresh? It just makes me hate my time at FT and spend more time communicating via different avenues.

It looks like post-update there may be an unintended extra message popping up; thank you for raising this, we will address with our techs.
