Thanks, IBobi. I think that if the indenting works, "sorting" won't be an issue. It was mentioned in that post because the poster thought there was a problem with the alphabetical order. But that wasn't the problem; the problem was that the sub-forums weren't being indicated as such. Once the indenting is working again, I don't think there'll be any more problems as the reason for the apparently-odd order will become clear. As I said, the logic of the order is actually impeccable.

I was having a similar issue, but then saw a post with a quick and easy fix. There appears to be an extra line in the text box when you start to type which causes your text to push up behind the menu bar.

After you click into the text box hit delete before you start to type and you will get rid of this extra line. Your text shouldnt disappear anymore. Hope this helps!

That surely sounds like a bug on mobile devices.

Agreed. But it has been happening for awhile now without a fix, so I have been having to use this workaround.

When will we see imrovements to the visibility of hyperlinks in signatures?

The hyperlinks is only visible when the cursor is on the text.

Also, according to https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=1900802, 196 individual FTers have posted in this thread. In other words, 0.0276062948% of members have felt passionately enough about this topic to comment on it. Even if you take the conventional forum wisdom that about 10% of members are actually active, then 0.276062948% of active members have commented on this topic.

In other words, 99.723937052% of members just don't care. ;)

I happened to come across a couple of people who haven't posted to this thread, have experienced problems that have been mentioned in this thread (in this case, the limited number of likes), and are just having to live with it and find workarounds - see https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...l#post29623944

So while I know your statistics were slightly tongue-in-cheek, there is a wider constituency out there of FTers who are also feeling the pain even if they are not active on this thread. There have been a lot of overblown complaints - just as everywhere else on FT, about everything - but I hope that IB does consider it its mission to provide a better experience than "we'll just have to learn to put up with this".

We were not suggesting you clear your cache on every FT visit, we were suggesting you do it once, since that appears to fix the issue for most people. If you would not like to follow our instructions for fixing your reported issues, that is your prerogative.

If clearing your cache doesn't work, please let us know what browser and device and forum skin you're using and we'll try to help more....

The highlighted portion is way out of line considering that I have already told you that I cleared my cache and that did not correct the problem.

I cleared the cache and the like feature worked, for awhile.

I am not ready, however, to assume a cause-and-effect relationship, as the like feature is now again not working.

Wikiposts are next on the link front, then signatures. I'll see if they can do both at the same time. Probably just depends on how things are coded.

seems like what what started out as a good forum that offered a means of discussing travel related topics, has now morphed into an IT experiment, that only computer boffins can make work.

I have been encountering what appears to be a bug with the new system in the reply text boxes. When you have multiple lines/paragraphs but use backspace to bring something back up a line (joining two paragraphs into one), the cursor jumps somewhere random.

Using this post right now as an example, if I backspace this current paragraph into the first paragraph, the cursor jumps somewhere randomly in the first paragraph rather than at the end of "somewhere random" and before "for example." I've been noticing it ever since the update but I can't seem to replicate it with any consistency, meaning the cursor doesn't jump to the same place every time, even within the same reply. It is not a huge deal, but it is an inconvenience. I've taken to just using delete rather than backspace as a work around in order to bring the second paragraph up to the first, which does not activate the glitch in the matrix.

This is absolutely correct. According to the main page, FT has 710K members plus probably half that in lurkers on a regular basis. Of that group, there are maybe 12-15K members online at any given time. Of that group, it is unlikely more than a few percent are active enough on FT to care about or even notice minute design changes and of those few percent, I'm guessing even fewer even know there is a place to voice complaints.

Like Globaliser, I've noticed quite a few threads throughout the forum of people complaining about design changes/flaws but moderators either delete or move those threads and so people can't find them. IB has already removed the announcement sticky about the design change from the top of every sub-forum so that makes it even less likely anyone will find where to voice complaints they have and the technical feedback forum is buried at the very bottom of the directory.

More importantly, valid and well thought out criticisms about the UI in this very thread have gone completely unacknowledged, making it even less likely that users with similar complaints will pile on. Yes, bugs and glitches are things that should be addressed first before cosmetic issues, but this is a feedback thread and not a bug thread so at the very least, cosmetic UI issues that are brought up need to be acknowledged. Even if just to say "this is how it is, we aren't changing it, period." I'd respect that more than ignoring complaints entirely, especially when many of the complaints are coming from experienced web designers who do this for a living.

It is clear that IB has a certain "style" to their forums as most of them look very similar in color, layout and design but I would very much encourage IB to at least recognize that FT is a different animal. An awful lot of the regular members of this site are accessing the site via mobile and in transit on airplanes. Having a site with a blinding color palette that is barely functional on mobile devices is not exactly catering to your target audience. A little understanding would go a long way.

Do you have the Grammarly plug-in installed? I've noticed behavior like that when the plug-in is enabled (not just here but on many other sites, too).

How about them font sizes?

I do not. I use Firefox and Grammarly is completely broken within FF. I haven't checked other browsers to see if I can replicate it there, but FT is the only forum I'm having this issue with, including other IB forums.

I'll check on Chrome or Safari when I get a chance and report back. I had never experienced this issue prior to the new upgrade. I tested again with this post and the same thing happened, when I used backspace to join these two paragraphs, the cursor jumped between "I'm" and "having" in the first paragraph. It is a relatively easy thing to work around because I can just use delete rather than backspace, just kinda frustrating.

After listening to Zuckerbeg's testimony yesterday, and the discussion of FB's bug bounty, I am left wondering where we file to receive IB's bug bounty. :D
