As of this morning this option appears to be inoperative
Was working fine yesterday

I have tried it in Chrome, IE and MS Edge - doesn't work in any of them

Thanks for pointing out that a forum can be marked as read by double-clicking on its icon - I was not aware of that previously

The "Mark this forum read" option on the Forum Tools dropdown is still not working for me (in Chrome at least)

If this is still happening for you (it works fine for in in Chrome and FF), try this:

1. Log out of FT
2. Clear cache and FT cookies
3. Log back in

Still an issue? Make sure you do not have an ad blocker on. Then post your browser type and version, device type, and whether you are using the full site or mobile skin.

Aw come on - you did something in the background, right?

Because now it is working fine for me, in Chrome at least
(I did not do the suggestion you made prior to trying)

It was not working for me 30mins ago!

Thank you

Yes, still an issue both on my iMac with Safari with ....... on and on my iPad with Safari and no adblocker installed and I clear my cache and cookies every time after logging out (and I always log out as opposed to staying logged in over time

And I thought the issue with typing the word "ad-block" (without the dash) being substituted with "....." was fixed but if you look at my post, it's not

Still an issue for me. Windows 10 15063 (latest updates) + Edge (desktop/full site). Not happening 100% of the time, but is happening very frequently over the last few days.

I use the functionality frequently, and it's only been very recently where this stopped working.

Ditto for me
It worked for a while this morning (my time - GMT+7)
But now is no longer working

I have yet to try the suggestion made by IBobi

Edited to Add:
And now it's working again

Be sure you are not using an old http bookmark to log in

We are now on https. Change your bookmarks and it may fix this.

I am, and have been for quite some time, on https and it doesn't fix it

Edited to add: While "mark this forum read" within a given forum doesn't work, the "mark forums read" quick link does appear to mark all forums as read

Can you describe what happens when you are in a forum and select the "mark this forum read" option?

If you can, could you provide screenshots showing the subforum before you click "mark this forum read" and afterwards?

I was using an old bookmark. I have now changed it to "https://..."
All seems fine now

I know you asked this of goalie, but I can tell you my experience, which is
  • I click on the "mark this forum read" pulldown from the forum tools item on the ribbon
  • The forum tools options disappear
  • And nothing happens to the "unread' threads on screen, as you know their thread titles should change from bold (=unread) to normal (=read)
(I have waited for up to 60secs for the response, in case it was just a comms problem, but...)

After clicking on "mark this forum read" and nothing happens, can you refresh the page? Still not working?

My scenario is the same as pandaperth, except I was always using the https links in my attempts.

Even after refreshing the page, the posts were still not marked as read.

Tonight though, it seems to be working again.
Edit: I closed that browser tab. A few hours later, I opened a new one and came to FT again. Now it's not working again.
