Just saw another post that was written by the FTer (nothing imported from another website) & the appeared (see link below*). At one point I thought it might be when someone cut/pasted from other websites, but again - this problem is recent, not old. One of the links I posted above was started in January of this year/was written by the OP of that thread (as is my example below - don't forget to go to the post vs. just copying it).

* I think I know what essxjay meant (had to re-read a couple of times) & she's mentioned a few, although there are a couple more that are substituting.

FWIW - yes I think this is an IB issue, not a user issue.

I'm not saying that yet, just that this looks like an encoding issue -- something I have a bit of experience with -- and that if this ticket was assigned to me I'd start with checking how the PHP script imports and parses XML files before saving them to the database. Could be an XML declaration that needs adjusting in the post-in-thread-context view (vs. isolated view) or it could be something entirely different. Not really a Windows/Mac issue in the way most people think about it but specifically how display fonts translate across platforms and browsers.

Just saw it happen in this thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starw...tay-right.html

The OP posted something (not imported from another site) & when a FTer quoted him, the appeared in the quote. It should be noted that the does not just appear in quotes.

Cheers.

I'm seeing this all over the Starwood forum when, I assume, Le Mridien is spelled correctly (using acute 'e').

Example: What is the Le Meridien brand for?

Using latest versions of Firefox and Chrome on Win10.
