Anyone else having trouble viewing this site using Chrome?

I haven't been on here for a few months but when I tried to read some threads earlier tonight it would keep freezing indefinitely.

I am now using Microsoft Edge and it works fine. By the way, I have tried at least 5 times today using Google Chrome and it just doesn't work.

Curious to know if others are having this problem.

Nope. I use Chrome (on OSX) exclusively for this site, and it's working fine.

I've been using Chrome for years to view Flyertalk, from Windows XP to Windows 10, and I haven't had problems with it.

Do you mean the Marriott forum specifically on FT or all of FT? Or could you mean tha Marriott website?

I have been having intermittent trouble as the OP described. Seems worse on Chrome, though Firefox has happened as well.

I have been having trouble with Chrome. It occurs on any of the FT forums whenever I pull up a specific thread. The FT Homepage and the Forum Homepages listing the available threads are fine. From the status bar in Chrome, it looks like some of the calls out to the advertising content are very slow or hanging. When I look at the same pages with IE they are fine. I am using a Windows 7 Enterprise laptop.

Exactly my problem. When I click on the individual thread it freezes and stops me from even scrolling down. I can click on the homepage and the listing of threads just fine. Now I use Edge only for viewing this site. It's annoying.

Glad I'm not the only one having these issues.

For the record I have a 2 month old Windows 10 laptop.

This should be reported in the Support forum, not Marriott. It's toward the bottom or the list of fora here or you can click on HELP toward the bottom right of the blue area at the top of the page and then click on Support toward the bottom of tthe pop-up menu.

I've been experiencing the same problem for a long time - the simple solution I've found is to install add blocker. Work like a charm since then. Something in the advertisement is not well calibrated with the browsers.

I only view FT/Marriott forum w/ Chrome & no problem (including right now). MSP is correct, though. This should get switched to the Technical Issues forum.

Cheers.

MC/DC Flyer, thanks for the tip. I installed an ad blocker and now FT is working fine again in Chrome. Weird FT was the only site I was having trouble with before I installed the ad blocker.

It's a flash plugin problem with certain ads.

I'm having the same problem ... but only in the Marriott forum! The AA forum works fine but when I click on a thread in the Marriott forum, there's a problem.

This was the answer for me. I disabled the Flash plugin on Chrome and haven't had a freeze since. I use a different browser when I want to see a video.

Hey guys,

We believe there is an issue with one of the Marriott banners that we are serving. We are trying to figure out what the issue is -- please bear with us.

As an aside, FlyerTalk is fully supported by our advertising, so please do us a couple of favors:

1. Report any bad ads to the mod team/me, here in the Tech Support forum.
2. Please refrain from promoting the use of ad blockers.

Thanks guys,

Paul
