Jump to first unread post of thread (from forum page) not working

Jump to first unread post of thread (from forum page) not working
I'm in the habit of clicking on the blue square box at the start of a thread title on forum pages to go to the first unread post of that thread. Today when I do this, I'm sent to the top of the first page of the thread that has an unread post, but I must scroll down to find the first unread post. I think the problem started sometime yesterday. The same problem arises if I first click on New Posts and try to jump to the first unread post in a thread from there.
Also, it works in this forum, but in the DL forum if I click on the little blue box at the top of a quote to jump to the quoted post, I'm sent to the page where the quote appeared, but not to that specific post.

I'm assuming you have not changed your browser or any browser settings lately? I believe the "first unread" is cookie-based, so if you have cleared cookies or are clearing them when leaving FT, it won't remember where you left off in a thread...

No, I restarted my ipad2 a couple days ago and my desktop was probably restarted over the weekend as updates were automatically installed, but nothing else.
FT recognizes which is the first unread post by the blue and orange squares in the left of the navy stripe over the username. It's just that FT jumps to the top of the page rather than the top of the first unread post.

I know this is a dumb question -- is there any chance you were logged out when that happened?
I only ask because we're not getting other reports of this, and tech has looked and can't find anything out of order.
The only other thing I can think of is that it's the iPad throwing off site functionality in that specific way. We do have a mobile skin coming soon, so hopefully if that's the issue, it'll be resolved.

It's OK on my desktop but is continuing on my iPad2 using Safari (and the full FT website).
I'm apparently logged in just fine as it allows me to post. The page does show by orange and blue squares in the upper left corner above a lost whether it's been read or not, but FT doesn't jump to the top of the first unread post for me, although it does go to the right page of the thread.

Today it suddenly seem to e working again, going directly to my first unread posts. I did nothing, no reboot, no clearing of cookies, and no logging in to FT again.

About the same time, I noticed that if I tried to exit from a page with posts marked as unread (when I had opened that page), FT would initially jump very quickly to the first "unread" post instantaneously on its way to the page I wanted, whether it was next/previous thread in forum, the main page for the forum, or some other forum/listing of fora. I'm glad this is gone as it was very annoying.
