Posting links to FT threads
This is not a technical issue but I wasn't sure where to post this. On old FT I had it set up that I could see in the URL of the forum and thread I was reading. I could therefore post a link in a different forum or copy it into an email. I know it has to be simple but anyone know how I can set that up again?

It sounds like you had the old FT "broken" out of its frameset; that's how you can see the true URL without the overall frame hiding it.
To do this:
(Internet Explorer - PC)
1. Right click anywhere on the page you want the URL for (but not on an actual link).
2. Select "Properties"
3. The true URL will show up in the "Address (URL):" field. Highlight it, then copy...
(Internet Explorer - Mac)
1. Control click...
2. Select "Open Frame in New Window"
3. The new window will have the true URL in the location area.
(Netscape - PC)
1. Right click...
2. Select "Open Frame in New Window"
3. The new window will have the true URL in the location area.
(Netscape - Mac)
1. Control click...
2. Select "New Window with this Frame"
3. The new window will have the true URL in the location area.
Let me know if this doesn't do it for you...

Dan, Thanks for giving this lesson. After spending over 2 years on FT, making a link to another FT post is no longer a mystery!

Or ........... always open FT via a current thread of ANY Forum, and you are then outside (and you STAY outside) the "frameset".
For instance click on this thread we are on:

And then wherever you navigate thereafter the current thread coding appears in "address" line atop your screen. (On Windows PC anyway.
Thus needing to post thread links is very simple.
(I thought ChanelCinq was back osting among us when I saw this thread ... did not realise it was 2 years old.

I found this thread which shows I have (hopefully) figured out the secret to the search feature PLUS I have learned how to post links. This old dog is barking now!
