last visit timestamp change?
I always use the back button on my browser to return to the previous page & topic list after reading and/or posting.
About a week ago, I replaced my old Win 95 machine with IE 5.5 with a new XP machine with IE 6.0. I'm noticing a change in flyertalk board behavior.
When I come to the board, the last visit timestamp is correct (yellow lightbulbs on topics with unread messages). If I read and then back-button return to the topic list, it's still correct. But if I POST, then when I return to the topic list, it seems the timestamp is now reset, and almost all topics are showing as all-read.
Did the board software change? Or is this an IE5.5 vs 6.0 difference? Or is there some IE option that I need to set to get back to the way it used to behave?
Thanks,
swag

Updating this: It's not posting that resets my timestamp. It's right-clicking on a thread or message and choosing to Open in New Window.
But on my old machine, that didn't affect the timestamp unless I went to the forum listing page. As long as the new window stayed in the thread, there was no affect.
Ideas?

Well, we haven't changed the software in a while...
There's sometimes been a timestamp/multiple post problem with navigating the boards using a browser's back/forward buttons, depending on what browser you're using.
It sounds like your browser is caching some pages, while loading others. If the page is cached, then there probably won't be a change in the lightbulbs. But if you open the page in a new window, then that may cause the system to get the latest stamp info.
Instead of using Back/Forward, have you tried using the built-in navigation that UBB provides? The Forum hierarchy navigation at the top of the screen...
I don't think that'll help the problem you;re having with opening new threads in new windows, but it might solve the other issue you brought up.
