Problems w/Search Feature

1) It seems that whenever I try to look up something in the archives, the search feature will find multiple topics; the problem is that when I try to access them, I always get "this page is not available" message which goes to the "Flyer talk has moved..." stuff.

2) Most of the time when I try to search the current year, by subject (heading) and or message, the search doesn't bring up the total number of topics available, just a small fraction.

For example, I went to the archives to look up certain information. It showed 52 topics with the subject of my search; more than 50% of the topics were dated between 1/01-11/01.
None of those pages were available by clicking on the topics indicated. Going to the current forums, the exact same search, with the valid date parameters, resulted in only 5 topics being found!

Does this happen to anyone else? Can anyone help or shed any light on this? It's quite frustrating, knowing the subject is there and has been discussed in the past, but is no longer accessible...

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Dan! I suspect this could be a reason why many people can't find what they are looking for when they say they have already searched...but couldn't find....
