Multiple Page OMNI Threads

I have noticed over the past few days that on multiple page OMNI threads, the page number of the last page of the thread is not showing on the OMNI forum page. For instance, a thread may be 3 pages long, but only Page 1 and 2 are showing on the OMNI forum page. So to get to Page 3, you have to open page 2 first. Not a big deal, and this has not been happening consistently. If I notice it again today I will provide a link.

Another minor annoyance that I have experienced recently is that after viewing an OMNI thread, I am returned to FlyerTalk Travel rrather than FlyerTalk Miles. I know that this is not just on those threads that were originated in Travel, because several are threads that I originated myself on the Miles board.

Thanks.

Yes, you beat me to it, C-pete! It seemingly got quite a bit worse this morning as well for me. And the SEARCH feature for OMNI is of course still ineffective, as it seems due to the crossing multiple boards of the OMNI forum I think! Thanks!

We're currently updating threads for all the boards, so this may have something to do with it. The update is a long one, and may take a day or two, but once it's done, we'll check this out.

Thanks for the heads-up...

Here's a thread that is exhibiting these problems as of just a few minutes ago.

Cactus & Doc... are you still getting those misnumbered thread problems (displays 2 pages when there are actually 3, etc)? I've just gone up and looked around OMNI, including the link you gave, and I haven't been able to duplicate the problem. I see threads with 2 pages listed, and when I click into the second page, that seems to be the last page.

Cactus, about your first post, where you state that you're returned to FT Travel, even though you started in FT Miles... Can you give me a URL example I can check out? It should function that whatever main Forum you start an OMNI thread in (Miles, Travel, etc) is where that particular thread will "live" from then on.

Doc, as for the search problems... I did notice a bunch of broken pages. We're tweaking the search funtion and rebuilding the indexes, and this should fix those broken pages.

Dan,

As some of the others here, I'm also getting switched over to FT Travel while I'm in Omni on Ft Miles. It just happened twice now.

bj-21, can I get a URL or thread title that's doing this and I'll check it out.

Dan,

It doesn't happen every time,so it's hard to know when it will happen--and it happens after I click off the Omni to go the the next forum, usually trying to go to In The News. But I'll try to get the URL if I can.

Thanks,

bj-21.

It has not been as much of a problem recently, but it just happened to me on this Barry Bonds thread in OMNI: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...ML/002232.html . It is 3 pages long, but the OMNI forum page shows only 2 pages. And it returns me to Travel.

but you didn't even give me a chance to check it out!

Are you accessing FT from behind a company firewall? Did you do anything with your browser between the times FT wasn't working and when it worked again?

No.

No, not that I know of.

I am beginning tothink it is just something on my end, although doc apparently experienced a similar problem. Not a big deal. Thanks for looking into it, and I'll keep my eyes open for another occurrence.

To reassure Cactuspete, this has been an ongoing "problem" for me (not really a problem, can't think of another word, perhaps inconvenience and even that sounds strong).

I will access a multiple-page OMNI thread from the FT Travel section. After reading posts, I find myself returned to the FT Travel section.

Also, the FT Travel section often lists OMNI posts as having more pages than they do (# of pages +1).

I am not using a firewall and my sessions at FT are not interrupted by visits to other sites (at least not in these cases).

But that's what you want, right? You start in Travel, and end up in Travel? Or do you mean you start in FT Miles, but end up in Travel?

We _may_ have fixed that by reindexing the threads last week. If not, it could be because the Forums all use a unique index to list the threads, and they aren't all updated when one's OMNI is... I'll check on that.

Btw, how do you like your cube? I haven't seen one in action yet...

Sorry about the confusion, Dan. I did mean that I start in FT Miles but I am returned to FT Travel.

As I said, it's no big deal, just sort of odd.

The G4 Cube: very nice. It's not all that expandable, but the size, looks and lack of fan noise are all great. The series that I have experienced a problem with the touch activated on/off switch. It was a hardware default, but getting Apple to admit this and repair it was a long process. The only way I found out that Apple was fixing the problem was at the helpful website www.macfixit.com

Thanks again for all your work at FlyerTalk.
