Posts not refreshing

I've looked elsewhere no this board but can't seem to find an answer.

On idle days I come back to the board once every couple of hours to see if there's anything new. However, even if the number of replies seems to have increased, I only see what I read a couple of hours back, not the new posts. It seems to take a few hours to clear and let me read the new posts.

Clearing the cache on my PC doesn't work. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Lux, hello. Thank you for your feedback and please accept my apologies for the inconveninence that this is causing you.

You are correct in assuming that it's a cache problem...at least that is what is usually the cause of this sort of thing. Which browser are you using? Version? Also, what is your operating system and version? Lastly, what method are you using for clearing your cache?

Thanks for your patience in this matter.

Thank you Michael.

I'm a Windows 98 user, trying both IE5 and Netscape 4.something (oddly, the problem occurs in both). I tend to clear my local cache using (i) the 'delete files' and 'clear history' options in the Settings > Internet Options panel, or (ii) just diving into the directories and clearing out the files in the Cookies and Temporary Internet Files directories.

At least the time delay stops me wasting quite so much time at work...

Yes, is there any way to refresh so that I can see the new posts? I am watching the # of posts increase, but I'm not getting access to the new posts in each thread. HELP!

(I find that the only way I can see new posts is to post a new blank message and then look at the thread again, which must be a pain for everyone else on the board so I don't like to do that.)

These definitely sound like local caching problems...

To ensure you're seeing the latest postings, make sure your browser's cache is cleared. Also, you can try "breaking" the page out of the overall FT frameset by right-clicking (or control-clicking if you're on a Mac) on the page, then selecting the option to open the frame in a new window. When this new window opens, hold down your shift key and click the reload/refresh icon on your browser. This should force the page to reload from the server, and not your cache.

I have been having this problem recently at work, most likely because of the proxy server, but not at home.
The only way I can see refreshed pages at work is to open the topic in a new window and refresh the new window. Works every time.

Thanks for that proxy point; I forgot to mention that. If your company's proxy server is caching old pages of FT, then you'll have to do what magic suggests above...
