Firewall problems with FlyerTalk

I get FlyerTalk no problem at home, but it never will come through at work. It just "times out." I think maybe it has something to do with our company's firewall - but I don't know too much about this. The reason I think this may be a firewall problem is that we can't get some things, like we can't get any RealPlayer stuff.

Does anyone know of anything I can try, any setting or adjustments I might make, in order to try to receive FlyerTalk on Internet Explorer 5.0 through a firewall?

Thanks if any ideas.

Chances are its not firewall related at all, but rather a filtering or blocking program that your employer installed to restrict various web sites that are not related to your line of work. Its quite common for all discussion boards to be blocked, as they are not deemed productive? These type of server based apps filter out the whole domain: www.flyertalk.com and all sub pages. Ask your MIS folks if they use such an app?

If it is firewall related, try setting your browser to accept all cookies from any server?

thesilb, while the type of programming you mention is entirely possible I'm not aware of it being part of our bulletin board system and would have to agree with 1k that it's very likely security that your employer has put into place. This practice is becoming increasingly prevelant as more and more business require their employees to be involved with research on the net, etc.

Thank you for your feedback and for your continued support.
