1. To destroy any remnants of self-respect that those of us who became "Legends" might have had.
2. To count Omni posts which were made when post counting did not apply to that forum (even though we had been told by Carol that would not be possible).

2. Is it just selective OMNI posts then over a certain time period?

As far as I can see, it was all Omni posts made during the period when they were not counted. (There had been an earlier period when they were counted.)
The only exception would be posts in threads that were moved to the Games Forum. Those threads do contain some posts from that earlier period and thus, when they were moved to Games, they ceased to be included in post counts.

Yesterday I was a legend...
I haven't followed the "which-posts-count" discussion at all closely but pointed out yesterday to Mrs. Fredd that I was now an Evangelist. I have played the "People Association" thread quite a bit, although not recently.
I now learn that what can be given can be taken away. First my UA Million Miler status gets devalued and now this. Et tu, IB?
Today I'm no longer a posting Evangelist and my post count is lower than when this started - I'm reasonably confident I was somewhere around 8500 posts and now I'm under 7000.
Should I send out another mass e-mail to my many fans explaining that I'm not an Evangelist after all,
or is there going to be further adjustment?

On post counts
Just to chime in with an explanation here...
I've followed this post-count issue and have followed up with the tech team (Mike) and with Carol, and I've been assured that that policies that determine which posts "count" and which do not are accurately reflected in the current totals.
The fluctuations in total count are explained by the moving of large numbers of posts between threads that "count" toward one's total and threads that do not; this extraordinary movement caused the post counter to break, necessitating a manual re-set. It's possible that the re-set also resulted in a correction of previously inaccurate counts for some community members.
Now the post counts are accurate, based on todays post count rules set by the community leadership.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns,
Paul
