Pax allowed in cockpit on shorthaul flight??

New experience for me on a flight from LIS to FCO...

Was sitting in 1C on an A320 and before takeoff a large group of kids (probably ages 12-14) in matching shirts were boarding. Flight crew let the kids look around the cockpit and take pictures, normal enough. Then they put down the jumpseats and invited a couple of kids to sit in the cockpit. Door was closed and we pushed back from the gate. They sat in the cockpit the entire flight and came out after landing.

Obviously everything turned out fine but surely this cannot be allowed by any safety policy?

It's up to the discretion of the captain.
When you come in to land in LIS - the view out the front is incredibly beautiful

The main airline of Portugal's next door neighbors is the same

or does TAP not implement that rule?

So do TAP allow you to sit in the cockpit for landing, if you ask…?

I was recently flying Vueling and what looked like a "mate" of the crew was invited into the cockpit before pushing back and only seen on arrival. I know someone in Lisbon who is a friend with a TAP captain and is always invited into the cockpit.

Seems quite common outside the US/UK.

This rule is applicable in the US and in the UK, not in Portugal or Italy. Where it is applicable it is strictly enforced.
