I beleive our previous set (probably original set) of smilies came from that list---of course, only the tamer ones. ;) They were updated with the smilies we currently have.

We get enough animation from the ads, I don't know about the icons flashing, rolling, shaking, etc. within the posts.

Although the shaking boobies did make me laugh.:p

If you put the smilies in cold print they don't work very well. With the graphics and without the text, they can convey emotions quite effectively and in a lighthearted manner. That's what smilies are for. Smilies are much less effective if the reader is humor-impaired or searching for every potential insult.

I've never used those smilies nor have I seen them used, but the boobies might have been fun to have for the Kyla Ebbert thread. @:-)

The nice thing about a smilie is that the word isn't there at all, and the picture just makes you grin. You have to be a tough customer indeed to get angry at a smilie.

Why the sarcasm, FewMiles? If you have any issues of "pressing importance" which this issue is prevening us from discussing please let us know, but in the meantime there's no need for an attitude.:) Posts like that add nothing to this discussion.

Not your call to make.

I would support the smilies suggested by alanw.

The ones suggested by nsx would be more germane to Omni than FT as a whole. IMHO, of course :)

I am leaning toward alanw's as well.

Is the one in the first column, third row down a kiss? I like kisses. :)

I say we don't use smilies or anything fancy, flyertalk should only be accessed via a telnet client

Let's say we eventually do flags. Then my suggestion would be to allow the member to fly whatever flag s/he desired. Maybe it's where they were born or where they live or a favorite place or whatever.

But do we only get to pick one at a time? If so, I'm going to fly this one, just as a convenience. ;););)

And some say AVATARS will create clutter and distraction?

FT would look like Times Square at midnight if that lot were enabled. @:-)

And you don't find this annoying?

Punki Dec 3, 2007 7:59 pm

Yikes, and here I thought that color and large fonts were not available as posting options. :D

Aren't you the guy who, on many occasions, was looking for a puke smilie in response to a post I had just made?? :p

Ah, the infamous Liberian flag which I see flown from so many ships worldwide.
