When does a posting just disappear?
Just curious as to the circumstances under which this happens (as it did to me and a few following in one thread).

There are a number of possibilities, including:
To which thread are you referring?
FewMiles..
------------------
[ FlyerTalkers' Resources on the Web ]
[ Unofficial Guide to AAdvantage ] [ Unofficial oneworld Info Desk ]
- The thread was moved
- Your post was deleted (moderated) - you'd probably given an explanation, e.g. by e-mail
- Technical glitch, e.g. corrupted thread

I can think of a couple:
the Will There ever Be a Lasting Mid-East Peace thread, which I believe was corrupted;
The Flying While Arab thread in the In The News forum, which just completely disappeared into the ether (except when you search).

Not sure why this is a Talkboard issue?
Should you post it in the Technical Issues area?

Sorry if I've posted in the wrong place, it seemed to fit the other postings here. If not, please move.
I posted a small, slightly off topic joke, about being suprised that Olive Garden was a chain. This was in FT connection (the one right after MilesBuzz). It was in a thread about a contest offering a prize for restaurant reviews. One or two added to the joke, then it stopped. Those posts all just disappeared and I never heard anything. Not a big deal, just curious to avoid similar problems in the future.
Thanks,
Dick

per suggestions, moved to tech problems.
From my knowledge, 99% of dissapeared threads happen for reasons we don't know (tech bug) - could be a few people posting to a thread at the same time and the system loses it. I've heard this from all board operators so it's not just FT.

Thanks, that answers my concerns. BTW, I couldn't find a forum labeled "Tech problems," but I found FOUR "Technical issues," in FT Miles, Travel, Dining, and Airports -- and this thread doesn't seem to have been moved to any of them. Again, no big deal.
P.S. You've told me enough that I have an idea about what the technical problem is (interestingly, I did my dissertation in an area related to this), but that doesn't necessarily mean it's easy to find.
