Images: allow them in all forums?
In 2008, the TB voted to test the use of images in 4 forums.
In 2009, the TB voted to allow images in all Miles and Points forums, Travel&Dining forums, Technical Services forums as well as all Community forums except the Special Interest travel forums.
In 2011, the TB voted to allow images in both OMNI and OMNI/PR.
The result of this is that images are allowed in every forum of FT except:
Special Interest Travel
In 2012, when images are ubiquitous across IBBs and other social media, it seems quite anachronistic to me to single these forums out for image-less posting.
Before each of the TB votes above, members, and especially moderators, fretted that allowing images would create mayhem or otherwise hurt the FT experience. In every instance, the opposite has been true imho.
The TB has been discussing this issue over the weekend and I think it's time to turn on images in the remaining forums that do not allow it.
But rather than rushing to a motion, thought we should collect some poster input.

I've posted a thread in GLBT Travelers to point people in this direction. I've done the same in the other four Special Interest forums that receive considerable traffic (Women, Disability, Pets, Children).
I can't find the Men's forum to post in -- koko, where is it?

I'm a regular member of the Travel with Children forum, and I think we'd benefit from being able to include images.
A couple scenarios that come to mind are the numerous questions about how to pack XYZ child-related item or how to rig a carseat for travel. In those cases and many other similar situations, a picture would really help provide the OP with better information.

I can't say that I've noticed that images were not allowed in any of the special interest forums I frequent.

While I still consider images to be mostly superfluous to the sharing of information (which is the primary purpose of this board), I don't suppose that allowing them in these forums will cause any further harm (unless a particular forum gets to be like Trip Reports, which has been rendered almost unusable by too many images that are too big and focusing in too minute detail on the molecular level of items on meal trays).

I frequent the Women Travelers and Travel with Pets forum, I would personally like to see photos allowed in those forums.

Since then, we've had other motions that have left Special Interest Travel as an image-free island and I think that's been an unintentional omission considering a few TalkBoard members thought images were already turned on everywhere.

I don't see any harm in not doing so.
