Question 6: Will you support a motion if it is almost what you want but not precisely
From a member. In the past, we have had Talkboard members who would only vote for a measure if it was precisely what the member wanted. Will this be your approach, or will you support measures that are nearly what you want?

I think compromise is a key component of a productive session.
Although fleshing out the details and coming to a consensus before voting is often the most positive way of progressing forward with improvements, sometimes there comes a point where something just needs to get proposed and acted on. I believe that moving forward with the substance of the desired outcome and then refining the details later is a perfectly acceptable and sometimes necessary form of progression.
I will never let petty procedural disagreements, emotions, or the pursuit of perfection stop me from working to improve FlyerTalk and make FlyerTalk the best it can possibly be.

Agree with rwoman, TB is about representing others and sometimes the exact wording of a motion isn't how I would like to see it, but the motion does benefit the community, so it is a positive step in the right direction.

Yes. I will not allow the perfect to be the enemy of the good. (Thank you, Voltaire!)

I agree with what the other candidates have stated and can easily see myself voting for something even if it isn't completely the way I would have done it. With that said, I will state that it might also depend on what the difference is. But in general, things don't have to be perfect for everyone to still get benefits from a measure.

While my own opinions and biases will inevitably affect my views and voting decisions, the past two years have reminded me to see what others are saying. Being on TalkBoard is not about me, it's about representing others. In my first term, there have been issues that I went into thinking I'd vote one way and the ongoing discussion motivated me to vote differently...as I said it's not just my opinion playing a role here.

Cheers.

I've never let perfection stand in the way of excellence.
It's not really about what I want, anyway. It's what I think is best for the community.

I've done it before and I'll do it again. As I like to say, sometimes good enough for right now is good enough for right now. Plus, this is Flyertalk not the UN. Nothing we're going to vote on or change is really earth shattering.
