On-board Moving Map sans Tel Aviv

Swiss Air has reportedly removed the Israeli city Tel Aviv from the on-board moving map. It has been replaced with some Arabic spelling unintelligible to most.

I wonder how many other airlines have done this?

I’m surprised it’s even there. Usually the system points out the most random towns...

it does appear to be a suitably obscure choice...

Are you sure they changed it and it wasn’t just like that before?

Wouldn’t it take a huge effort to change that on every single plane?

Wow, people get offended by everything these days... This is just ridiculous.

I think this thread should be closed.

Yeah, in that case, I rather see artificial unintelligence, rather than a conspiracy. Weird locations pop up on those screens.

The IFE moving maps are usually fed by the FMS and often show navigational waypoints, which confuses the passenger looking at the map. What you see here is the waypoint aircraft coming in from the west have to pass on approach to TLV.

The picture the OP posted looks like the flight was coming in via UL609-UG18 and finding its way into the airspace of TLV: https://skyvector.com/?ll=32.3444656...art=304&zoom=2
