Seat Assignment question, UA codeshare on LX flight
I booked a Swiss flight via a United codeshare in economy, MIA-ZRH-MIA in March. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (11 and 4 years old).
It is my understanding that we won't get a seat assignment until check-in. Is that correct? Will we have a choice at check-in, or will we just have to take whatever we are given?
If so, will they seat us together when we check in? Is online check-in 24 or 48 hours before departure? Is there any way to get an advance assignment?
I greatly appreciate any help! I apologize if this question is asked frequently, I tried to wade through a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Hi SRQ,
this link has info on Pre Reserved Seating on Swiss.
https://www.swiss.com/ch/EN/book/swiss-choice/advance-seat-reservation
Don't know about policy at checkin. Paying up in advance seems to be the best way to guarantee seats together. You can follow the seat maps for the flight, perhaps on Swiss site, or through website like Expert Flyer. Then you can determine your risk tolerance and what is best course for you.
