LX18 ZRHEWR 14JUL Delayed 4h

Hi,

I was on LX18 yesterday (14JUL) which has been delayed for 4 hours.
It created a big mess in my agenda.
Shall I ask for compensations through the online form ? What shall I ask ? What Shall I expect ?

What was the reason for the delay?

Yes,

if the scheduled arrival time from TLV is 19:15, you can't depart at 17:20 with the same aircraft...:

The delay is caused by wrong opartional dispatching/planning of the aircraft, whatever initial reason it was...

Yes, I would ask for compensation. Ask for compensation according EC 261. Should be EUR 600 (delay >4h gate to gate and >3500km)...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight...ion_Regulation

They won't make it easy to you to get the compensation, but it's worth to fight for it. Good luck!

BTW: same delay on 13JUL15, same reason!

Thanks for your reply.
I will try to fight for the 600 Euros and let you know.
But I don't get it ! Why they have a schedule which can't work ???

Most probably missing one widebody aircraft that went tecnically?

That's nothing strage with LX... Sometimes they downzize the TLV flight with an A321, but it's holiday season within Europe and flights to TLV might also be full these days...

LX does not have any replacement aircraft for longhaul flights... Welcome to LH's score programm (saving any possible costs) on the wanna be premium airline...

Are you sure that the EC261 is valid for a SWITZERLAND=>USA flight ?
As Switzerland is not an European member ?

As has been mentioned on this forum countless times, Switzerland has adopted the EC261/04 rules so yes, they do apply to a Switzerland - USA flight (or any other flight by a Swiss airline).

From above screenshot, wasnt the ZRH EWR flight "only" delayed 3hrs53min, thus 7min too less? And quite similar the TLV ZRH one.. sure if you say you reached the Gate with more than 4 hrs delay you can try to claim.. but be prepared to due it yourself as the agencies might refuse your case.

According my experience using flightaware.com and flightradar24.com is, that they publish the take-off and touch-down time. I often compair it with my noted times to feed flightstatistik.de.

Therefore I wrote >4h gate to gate and would really fight for this or the few missing minutes... ASFAIK is the gate-to-gate time is decisive according EU261 rules.

I wonder if United's shoddy ground handling / ground operations has something to to with this?

Presumably you can asked to be switch to the JFK flights?
