Editing the posts of others

Just an opinion:

Mods should not have the authority to edit other people's posts other than to delete them completely for Terms of Use violations. Ideally the poster would be given the opportunity to edit their own post into compliance before deletion.

Editing someone's post without their consent is just not right for reasons that should be obvious.

There's nothing to stop the original poster from going back and deleting their post if they're not happy with the edited version. Many times just one line needs to be edited from a post that could be several sentences long.

When there is a personal attack involved, I don't think the moderators should wait and let the poster correct his error. They should deal with it promptly.

You also gave your consent when you signed up as a member on Flyertalk.

Understood. When I said "not right" I was voicing an opinion against the current arrangement allowing censorship ... I understand that the mods are perfectly within their rights to edit others posts as it stands.
