Is this where I can complain about moderators?

With ORP no longer an option I was wondering if this can be the new "I hate moderators" forum?

While I think a "I hate moderators" forum might not see the light of day, I think you have a point about having a forum in which issues with moderation are welcomed to be discussed. What better place to have it than in the Community section. Of course, who cares what I think?

Why not call it "Moderation FAQs answered" or something like that.

Here's a suggestion: Any member who is truly dedicated to using the word 'hate' around me will likely find a deaf ear. The tone and the manner in which anyone would deliver a comment or concern about another member in this way is not only embarassing to that member (the one making the comment) - my POV of course - but a slight to what I thought the spirit of FlyerTalk to be. You know, I put up daily with a lot of things on FlyerTalk, more so proabably than any single member, but I can't say that I even got to the level of hating anyone, even those that really have really dissed this Web site by their antics. So, it's unlikely that you'll learn anything from me, but learn this: I'm going to say with the path I've had for a long, long time of FlyerTalk, and that is to restrict as best I can the public execution of any members' reputation. This path was started well before we ever had volunteers/Moderators. Sometimes I have not been able to act in this area as fast as I wish because of other commitments to time, but it remains my one pledge to all members of FlyerTalk.

Here's what you do: bring the matter to my attention via PM, less likely to get lost in the hundreds of daily emails I receive. Address the topic as "concern about a member on FlyerTalk." When telling me of your concern, please be as psecif as possible, with several relevant examples of the interaction between you and this member. The most important part is to fess up to your own misdeeds in any manner if there are any. Most times I'm presented with a general 'they did this' and I remain an angel dialog. Something that is really cool to do is suggest a way in which you think this 'problem' might be resolved in the best interests of FlyerTalk. Help me help you. This is the way these things get done.

I'm not a peacenik, a hippie or a greenie. I'm simply a regular human being who just doesn't think that the word 'hate' is good for your temperment, your well being and the future of FlyerTalk.

Sorry for the lecture, but you seemed quite serious about this.

myefre, serious about this

I think he was joking more than anything, he has always been supportive of moderators, although he will never admit to it

I guess one has to know him in order to say that he was joking, as some of us met at PHX this past weekend for a football game.

He knows how to get himself in trouble, I already sent him an instant message to tell him that he is in trouble

But I guess he just wanted to joke about the fact that the bickering in ORP, that has ended, has shifted to TalkBoard, suggestions and technical issues.

I will let him defend himself better when he comes back from refilling his vending machines

In light of all the tense and somewhat outrageous actions lately this was only intended as a light hearted thread. My apologizes if it came across wrong.

Well by this time if someone has read through the thread they'll realize it wasn't intended seriously, but when I first saw the title I personally thought oh no, not again, not another one, so think about that? What you intend may not always be obvious. And until I got to the part where you all said it was light-hearted I was going to post 'what Randy said'. Hey, I will post that - what Randy said.

Cheers. Sharon
