How difficult would it be to make a Palm wireless (pqa) version of FT

Have been enjoying playing with my new wireless Palm, and have downloaded a number of "web clipping" apps that allow linkage to news sites, etc., etc. How difficult would it be to create a pqa web-clipping app to access FlyerTalk or FlyerTalk miles?

Cblaisd,

It can't be done, FT is "created" by UBB each time someone visits it, what otoh could be done is that someone handbuilds a pocket version of FT once a day for Avantgo, Palm and other pocket viewers. I don't know how much interest there would be for it. I have done the same for several of the boards we host and I can assure you it's possible but that it takes quite a bit of work.

I have been thinking about making a pocket version of FT, each time I log on using my laptop and cellphone I have to load quite a large homepage each time... Email me if it's something you'd like to test then maybe we can put it forward to FT's tech wizzards.

Good ideas. Thanks for the explanation. (There are some sites that I can get to with the Palm VIIx browser but "regular" sites are tedious and slow, compared to those optimized for the Palm. And trying to access FT with one of the Palm browsers always fails with an error message). Yes, I'd like to participate in a test. I'll email you.

we have looked at some options from Avantgo and continue to think about how this may work. What we do have plans with is creating a palm/cell phone version of our new "Reviews" area which is still under construction. This is an enhanced area for members to review hotels, restaurants, etc. By category you can download to your palm for use later on, etc. We see it as a frequent flyer version of Zagat's the difference being that most of the reviews coming from Zagats' are compiled by "locals" while our reviews section will primarily be compiled by the frequent flyer who may see these same restaurants a little differently. Anyway we feel this is the best way to start our forray into palm/phone stuff.

Actually, we already have something not known to the public but the team created a wireless version (and it will be palm as well) version of the "Programs and Partners" matrix for the upcoming launch of insideflyer.com with palm and/or cell phone at hand you'll never be without knowing who, what and where of the frequent flyer partner game.

That's the update from here.

Any new information on this one? I'm a newbie in both PALM PDA and AvantGo and read this topic with interest.

not a forgotten topic as we're working on it with the launch (well, trying to get it launched) of the new insideflyer.com which will have some of this wireless stuff such as programs and partners, etc.

FT could be tough but we have been tracking development in this area by a group of outside programmers involved in the UBB system. News as it happens.
