Thread view counter - vote here
While purusing other bulletin boards I noticed something that would be nice to have on Flyertalk.
It is a column located right next to the "replies section" on the board that counts how many times a particular thread has been read. I find it interesting to know how many times someone has read a thread that I posted as opposed to how many times people have replied.
The other bulletin boards which use this feature use the same BB software that Flyertalk uses. You could test it out for a week or so and see how people like it.
I vote yes.

I vote NO.
Not sure of the value add on this. I think we need to consider getting rid of couters verses adding more of them.
Just my two cents...

Essentially I'm indifferent, but tend to agree with wharvey's sentiments that eliminating counters, or perhaps simply covering them so that a click is required to see them, as once was required in the "old FT days, would be somewhat preferable!

Eventhough I as I look at wharveys post count "666" and wonder if I should comment on his post. I would also vote NO. Why add more, when the status quo is working just fine.

Besides, it might hurt some prolific posters' feelings to see no one is reading their threads...

!I vote NO for this type of counter. The poster can often get an idea of the number of times the thread is read by the number of replies (or some ratio thereof - there must be many FTers who read but don't reply).
But "non-interesting" threads (i.e. those that don't receive many replies, thus probably not read that much) usually sink to the bottom of the forum fairly quickly. Unless, of course, the poster bumps them back up with his/her own replies!

With this type of counter, you might get people reading their own threads over and over to boost their own popularity.

I don't believe that UBB, the software that FlyerTalk is using, supports this feature. OpenTopic, a similar piece of software from Infopop (makes of UBB) does.

Please Peregrine! I like to delude myself that people read my posts with fascination, but are just to busy to respond - Don't give us an implement that will burst my bubble

Another BBS I follow (Not sure if it is Open Topic or UBB) has a neat feature. Right after the topic heading it lists who started the topic and to the right where we show the topic starter it shows who the last poster to the thread was. I like that feature.

I'm with wharvey.
Let's lose ALL the counters. I do not feel they add much to Flyertalk.

Any chance this will ever happen? As previously noted, I'm strongly in favor! Thanks!
