Here's an idea that might help...

Include the TravelBuzz section on the Miles Forum as well as the travel forum, maybe even listing it second on the list. (OMNI is handled this way.) To be able to access these "catch all" categories without switching forums might (at least for the time being) help in the process of sorting out these posts.

Or you could award 50 frequent flyer miles when you post in the right category.

(By the way, this last suggestion brings this topic back within the purview of MilesBuzz...yippee!)

I agree that Miles is and should remain the main common denominator for these forums, but you never get good results by heavy handed censorship.

I strongly advocate against a "clean this board" policy.

FT is a community, and that means moderators should show tolerance if sometimes we stray from the "just miles" objective of a forum.

It also means to we FTers should also be tolerant with them in return. It's a tough and new job after all.

Just my 2 cents worth'

Do you mean, that you like the policy of a cleaner ON PURPOSE 'MILES ONLY' Board, but that you don't like the style it takes to do it?

It is always interesting to me to see how much people hate/resist change of any kind.

The new expanded FT, IMHO, is much improved, and just because the moderators have to take posts, kicking and screaming, to the correct forum should not be a reflection on them, but on the original poster. Further, to call this "heavy-handed censorship" is misleading and false, censorship is usually defined as hindering or impeding the free flow of ideas, the moderators here are mearly channeling it.

"I never post here anymore"-LOL!

As for fewer posts, I rarely think of FTers as timid types, too afraid of moderators to post, I think it has more to do with August being the traditional vacation month, after Labor Day I predict far more posts

Leisure, Right on!
All you have to do is loook back at last summer, when the posting dried up without moderators! Then when the BADD weather arrives, this place overflows.

But then, haven't several thousand posts shown up on the COUNTER in the past week. Where have they gone? To the appropriate Forums, of course!

Try them, you'll like them.

Not only is this August but there isn't a whole lot happening in the way of promotions or good fare sales (this will change right after Labor Day).
I welcome the attempt to educate and/or remove the lazy newbies -- this thread had become way too cluttered with "tell me how to get something for nothing or I'll whine" type of posts.

Cheers

Leisuremiles, very well said!

I believe I have failed to publicly thank the three Moderators. It is a mostly thankless job that I for one could not and would not want to do.

Thank you to the first three Moderators for breaking new ground on nFT and making it a better, more civil and organized destination.
