Bringing back 'trending' or replacing with something new?
I have to admit I'm far less engaged on this site than I used to be. I know I'm just one member, but I always found 'trending' a great way for me to catch up on aviation, points, and participate if it caught my attention. I posted about this in the big thread about its removal, but now that it's been gone a bit, I wanted to ask if the board admins are working on some sort of top level replacement?

Please let me start by saying that there are a lot of people on the FT side of Internet Brands who would have preferred this change not to happen, but the reality is that we're a very small part of the IB structure, and there are auto forums that generate a lot more traffic. FT generates no-where near the ad revenue it once did, so if you have reduced income then you have to control costs. I don't think anyone would dispute that.
From IB's perspective, if you're going to standardise a software platform across all your sites to reduce your maintenance and development costs, you really don't use the model that has the greatest number of customisations over time - and that was FT.
Consequently, we're left with bits that are more easily supportable, but we've lost things that weren't. There's not a single thing any of us can do about that, whether we like it or not - it's just good, practical business sense.
What we have is a limited number of trending threads on the homepage. I accept it's not as good for some people, although actually the feature didn't drive much forum traffic.
I'd like to bring you better news, but I'd rather give you the honest answer - I'm sorry, this isn't something that's going to change in the short or medium term.
Recognising that this subject has previously provoked a fair bit of anger, much of it aimed at the wrong people, I hope you'll understand that it's prudent for me to close this thread. I do want to thank you for raising it so sensitively though, which is greatly appreciated.
