The * states this: "The displayed totals are estimates only and do not include any additional charges that may be incurred at the hotel. The actual total will be calculated by the hotel in its local currency, based on the local taxes and currency exchange rate (if applicable) in effect at the time charging occurs." Nothing there contradicts what I'm reading.

As long as you are paying, checking in and out for all three rooms, you will receive stay and night credits and Starpoints but these will not be eligible for Platinum status challenge.

This promotion will not affect upgrades or any other SPG member benefits.

Starwood Lurkers:

A variation on the questions above:

I'm traveling with family to visit my brother. If I reserve and pay for 2 rooms but use my father's age to get a discount on one room and my mother's age to get a discount on the second room, can I get credit for the nights and rooms on my Starwood account? (My father and mother will be staying at the hotel but staying in only 1 of the 2 rooms.)

Let's lay aside the Stay Your Age booking discounts for a moment and focus on what is necessary for you to get credit:

(1) You must be the guest of record on both rooms. Your mom or dad can be added as a guest for the room they will be occupying, but you must be the guest of record. You must also occupy at least one of the rooms yourself.

(2) You must pay for both rooms' charges at check-out. Your mom or dad cannot pay for their room and you get credit.

How the hotel is going treat the Stay Your Age booking discounts is going to be the real wildcard here since you will be occupying a room that they qualify for, but you don't. Best of luck with that.

So if I want to guarantee that I will get credit for both rooms at a non-optimized discount (assuming both my father and I are occupying the rooms),

1) I should book both rooms in my name under the PAYAGE discount,

2) Put my father's name as a guest on one of the rooms,

3) When I check in or check out (not sure which), I ask to receive the PAYAGE discount on one room based on my father's birth year and ask to receive the PAYAGE discount on the second room based on my birth year.

Is that an acceptable approach from Starwood's perspective? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

That sounds better than using your mom's age for your room, so it sounds like it should fly. If you want to know for sure, I would run it by the property to see if they have any problems with it.

Nothing can replace getting the information from the proper source instead of conjecture.

Has anyone tried using these at Canadian properties? There are some good rates for a Toronto trip we are taking in April - will they add my age in $C or somehow factor an exchange rate into it?

Also - any problems using this for more than 1 room?
EDIT: found one answer, for future reference
The rate for reservations containing multiple rooms will vary based on the age of the oldest adult staying in each room. Valid ID and confirmation is required for the oldest guest staying in each room
So I save $2 with Mrs CP.

I have used this discount at properties in Montreal. Worked out great. They will add rates in CAD, not US, which is better for US visitors.

i use the birthday rate in Canada all the time. Rates & age are in Can$. Found some great savings. Especially on 3 night stays. Never tried 2 rooms, but have been upgraded with and without SNAs.

Cheers,

Pay Your Birth Year Promo

I wanted to book some nights with this rate, but the website for it seems to require a username and password now:

http://www.americas.starwoodoffers.com/payyourbirthyear

I can't find any other links or active information about how to book this rate. Does anyone know if this promotion was officially ended? Or how I could book it?

Weird - the website is definitely kaput. You could also try entering "payage" as promo code for individual hotels, though many do not participate.

This promo ended in 2017. I guess they don't want anyone born in 2000 to get free rooms.
