About 100K, maybe a few more. This seems like a healthy balance.
Almost all of mine is from the Amex or from various bonus opportunities. I've probably actually stayed about 10 nights this year. (For one thing, Starwood has fairly lousy options in some of the places I travel.)

Guys:
First of all, I'm astounded by the number of points some folks have - just amazing!
Secondly, just a friendly piece of advice. . .if you start getting PMd by folks on the board to "trade" your *wood points since you have xxx number as posted in this thread please do not be surprised and/or ask the moderators to do anything about a person private messaging you mentioning this(unless it's an outright violation of the FT TOS).
This is a very public forum and folks who do not have access to coupon connection try to find "run arounds" for accomplishing trades. This is NOT intended to say that anybody here is doing that; I'm going by previous experiences where we have received PMs from members saying that they had been approached and wondered what to do.
Again, just a reminder - what you post is seen by loads of people

Have about 40K, redeemed 135K points last year on trips to Australia, Amsterdam, and Athens. 90% of the points come from SPG Amex.

have a lot. generated on credit card buying stuff for a business. note, no status anywhere no more. like spg points because they do not expire and can be moved to a lot of places.
my wife and I have lost close to 1,000,000 miles because of the time/expire limits on miles when travel destinations get changed.
have lost a similar amount on point depreciation. remember when 5 days at the danieli was 40,000 points? not that long ago.
what good is a million airline miles when you cannot get a seat on the plane for miles. let alone try to get into biz class.

Only 70K now that I've redemed 12 nights in Polynesia. Just got a *wood CC the other day. Spend about $200K a year (using it for business travel) should give me enough points for one night after the next category increase

Only a measly 112,000 (all earned in the past year, though). Am hoarding, hoarding, hoarding for a honeymoon in 2009.

I currently have about 80k but I use them just about as fast as I earn them.
SPG has really devalued the points over the 6 years I have been earning them. I am just glad my wife and my family has had the time to use them up over the past years. Too bad we cant go back to the days of Traveling on the Concorde, staying at 5* hotels for a small number of points!
My first stay at the St. Regis NY was for 5000 points a night.
