Any updates

Hi,
My partner and I will be doing a mini-mattress run here starting from the Dec 24th for 4 nights split between us and hoping to qualify for the Mastercard Free weekend promotion.

Does anyone have recent updates for this property? My partner is Gold and we are booked in a room described as

"28Sqm In Main Building With A-Cha Mt. Views, Payable Interne T Access And Voice Mail System"

****Douglas House Rooms (Room Type Code-S/T/U/V) Are Located Inannex Building, Separated From The Main Building Site*****

Description seems conflicting; I hope it's not one of those rooms that require a shuttle bus to get there...

Any suggestions on how best to get to the hotel from ICN and things to do would be great. We've already planned a few places we'd like to visit along with a trip to one of the loca hot springs

Sounds like an 'off-the-beaten-track' room.

If you want something nicer, try W Walkerhill. I think the promotion is good for either property.

The Sheraton and the W are next to each other and there is a 24 hour casino next to the Sheraton. It is a 2 minute walk if you are moving slow.

Korean Air Bus

Korean Air has one bus from ICN that stops at Sheraton Walkerhill, easiest and cheapest way to get to the hotel, 14,000 won.

The W is usually quite a bit more expensive. SPG Gold should get an upgrade to a nicer room than described, especially during slow season and business travel is way down.

Any recent stay reports at both the Sheraton and W Walkerhill?
I have questions on the following:

1. Breakfast options as a SPG Plat
2. Wireless internet - Free?
3. Transport to city center - approx time and ease of subway travel (language signs in English?)

It takes about half an hour to get downtown from Walker Hill (about 15km); you can also take the metro from Kangbyon about 10 minute walk from hotel.

I have only stayed at the W not the Sheraton but this is a really nice W so unless there's a huge price difference I would definitely try to stay there. Upgraded to nice media suite (at my request-they had pre-upgraded to spa suite). No free breakfast but there is a good restaurant and the Woo bar which has amazing drinks and desserts served in martini glasses.

I've stayed there about 5 times in the last year. As a Platinum, I had a Junior Suite upgrade each time, free wi-fi in club, but not in room. Club Lounge is great and staff is wonderful. On your first visit you will also get a nice souvenir gift.

I always take the KAL bus, it drops you off right at the hotel entrance from the airport.

Thanks for the updates!

Any idea how difficult/easy to move from Sheraton Walkerhill to Westin Chosun?
I guess I can always take a cab, but hearing how bad traffic conditions are, i'm looking for alternatives? I'm travelling light if that helps

We stayed at this property during Christmas.

Check-in was done at the executive lounge floor and the agent showed us to our upgraded suite; he also provided a brief intro regarding the hotel and our suite.

Platinums had complimentary breakfast at the executive lounge, which was very good. Service was excellent as well.

The wired internet access was actually complimentary during our stay, despite mention of a charge somewhere (we just kept 'renewing' our connection every 24 hrs).

It was easy for us getting to the subway and downtown. We took the free shuttle-bus provided by the hotel to one of the subway stations (subway map is easy to follow) - I would say approximately 45 mins to city center.

Last month, I moved from Westin Chosun to SHeraton Walker hill by taxi in the evening around 7pm. It took 1 hour 10 minutes to get there.
Since taxi fare is pretty cheap(a little over $10) so it was not bad if you are not busy.
But it took more time than I expected.
When I got there, coctail time at lounge has already passed.
Next time, I will stay at Westin and do not move for stay count.

Do you know if there is a direct subway from Walkerhill to Westin Chosun?

There's direct subway route!

1. Take a shuttle from Walkerhill. Take off the shuttle at the last stop. Gangbyun station (green line, 2nd line) Please don't take off at the first stop. That is purple line, 5th line which goes to Gimpo domestic airport.

2. Take the green line subway to the bound of city hall (green line is circular line, so watch out the direction..) . It will cost 900won or 1000won. You'll be out at the city hall station. Then, you can find Westin Chosun within 5 min's walk.

Good luck

Sheraton in Seoul

Hello there,

I am going to Seoul in July and am looking to book at Sheraton Grande Walkerhill. I am on budget for this trip, and this was the best offer (with the promo stay 3 nights and pay only 2).

Has anyone stayed there before and could you please let me know if there is any Club Lounge there? I am a platinum member of SPG, do you think I may get a chance of upgrade? And also what are the facilities of Club Lounge, free breakfast etc?

One more question...I have read on tripadvisor that Sheraton is quite far away from the city centre, is this really true? And do you know if there is a shuttle bus to / back city centre?

Thank you so much!!!

youfly, I've moved your post into the master thread on the hotel. I think you will find a number of the answers you seek here. Ask again for anything it doesn't answer.

Sheraton walkerhill has a reall nice club lounge with great breakfast and evening snack, liquors (at least as I think), and you will have a chance to be upgraded to a club suite. But, this property is quite old, and renovation is still under construction. So, room is just so so.. And, sauna is not free to the platinum member, only gym is free.

And, as you know walkerhill is so far from city center, actually it locates in the end of Seoul. Shuttle is there, but offers only service to the local subway station. It will take 20~30mins to move to the center by subway (cost 1$) So, maybe you need to take a cab, it will cost $10~$15 to the center each way. If you want to look around the city center, Westion chosun is the perfect location.. But, it will be more expensive than walkerhill. So, here is the trade-off. But, definitely, the quality of the hotel is better in Westin Chosun.. (club lounge, sauna, ..)
